What Happened to JOB??
This is the biggest question when talking about the book of Job. Depending on what version you believe, God sent Satan to prove that Job would not curse God. He did that by destroying His children and stuff. Then He made Job sick with Boils. Job passed and did not curse God. That's one version, they do vary. The book of Job has effected a lot of believers faith. I mean to think at any time God could send Satan on you and Murder your children or do harm to you, just to see where your faith and trust is at. To see if you will stand up and take it like a Christian and still love God. We don't like to think about that. We just know it could happen at any time.Well, The whole point about Job is not the WHY. In fact we have almost 30 some Chapters of Job and his friends trying to figure out the Why for us, and none of them got it right except Elihu. In fact, when God did show up, God never even addressed the Why it happened. You would think if it was an important point, God would have mentioned it.Job 40:7 Gird up your loins now like a man; I will demand of you, and you answer Me. Job 40:8 Will you also annul (set aside and render void) My judgment? Will you condemn Me [your God], that you may [appear] righteous and justified?Notice that God is not Very Happy with Job. I mean Job and his friends wasted how many Chapters trying to figure out the WHY? God did not seem concerned with The Why. What bothered God is that Job was spouting off his own Good works and righteousness. His friends where accusing Job of some sin and they were all WRONG!!! Remember that Elihu is the only one that did not need a sacrifice for all the junk that was coming out of everyones mouth. What did Elihu say?Elihu explained to them.......Job 34:5 For Job has said, I am [innocent and uncompromisingly] righteous, but God has taken away my right.Job 34:9 For he has said, It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God and consent to Him.Job felt because of his goodness that none of these things should have come on him. He was mad at God. I have a lot of scriptures that prove Job's attitude Wrong, and serving God profits greatly, but Job did not have those scriptures. Job was ignorant of spiritual things. Thats why God had so much mercy at the end. Elihu continued:Job 34:10 Therefore hear me, you men of understanding. Far be it from God that He should do wickedness, and from the Almighty that He should commit iniquity. This is where Christians get goofy. They can watch a murder on the TV news and think that is EVIL, however if they are in church and say that God took someone (Murdered them as in Job's Children) they call that good with some mysterious purpose. They can't tell the difference between good and evil. Death and destruction is EVIL. ALWAYS!!! Blaming God for it does not make it good.Elihu was clear. God had nothing to do with this. (whole other lesson)Job 35:8 Your wickedness touches and affects a man such as you are, and your righteousness is for yourself, one of the human race [but it cannot touch God, Who is above such influence].Elihu makes a point, Our good works, even though we reap what we so do profit us, it has nothing to do with God's Word and promises. Christians think that working in church or busting there bottoms to do anything for God will somehow keep them safe. It did not work for Job, and it will not work for us. When bad things happen, we wonder how God could allow it or why it happened. I mean we were good people. I got some news.......... THAT IS NOT WHAT YOUR SUPPOSE TO FOCUS ON WHEN TRAGEDY STRIKES!!! Its not the WHY, it's what are you going to do NOW!!!Elihu:Job 35:13 Surely God will refuse to answer [the cry which is] vanity (vain and empty--instead of abiding trust); neither will the Almighty regard it--Job 35:16 Job uselessly opens his mouth and multiplies words without knowledge [drawing the worthless conclusion that the righteous have no more advantage than the wicked].There you go, when things go bad, you can not count on all that good you did. It's vain to God to even bring it up. Your deliverance is in your Trust in Him and Faith that He is good and will come through for you, no matter what the situation. What should have Job done? He should have stood up and said, I trust you Lord that you are good, If I have brought this on myself then show me. I will change it. I believe you shall deliver me and save me from my troubles because you are so mighty and great. Continued:
