Repentance isnt to turn from sin, it is to change your mind which may result in change of behavior. Repentance is to acknowledge you are a sinner and cant save yourself and believe Christ shed his blood for your forgiveness and died for your sins and rose for your justification.
Christ said so often SIN NO MORE, of course repentance is to turn away from sin!

According to Jesus, repentance is more than just feeling sorry or saying “I’m sorry” for what you did. It is a complete turning away from sin and turning toward God. It means changing your heart, your mind, and your actions so that your life starts to follow God’s ways instead of your own. Jesus called people to repent so they could enter the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 4:17).

Repentance involves:

  • Recognizing sin – seeing clearly that your actions or thoughts are against God’s ways.
  • Turning away from sin – deciding to stop doing what is wrong and not just feeling guilty.
  • Turning to God – choosing to obey God’s commandments, trust Him, and live for Him.
  • Producing good fruit – showing your repentance through your actions, not just words (Luke 3:8).
Jesus used strong words to show that repentance is urgent and necessary, like in the story of the lost sheep (Luke 15:7). He shows that God rejoices when someone truly turns from their wrong ways.

We just have to trust what Christ did and believe the gospel
God said he died for us while we were yet sinners
