... I have no problem with asking for what I need. But when it comes to the believe you will receive it part, that's where I cringe.
What if I ask for, say, a certain amount of money to keep something afloat, but it is not Gods will
that I keep the certain thing afloat?
Or what if I have a wrong motive in what I ask for? I know, also, that God will not let me starve.
He feeds the birds, so how much more will He feed old ladies without husbands who trust Him?
But I also know His ways are mysterious (for instance, God doesn't have to give someone more money to feed them or make food fall from the sky or make oil and flour not run out) and I know that I may very well crave and ask for MORE than I need or ask for something when God doesn't want me to keep that way and instead wants to move a different direction.
So...I guess what I'm trying to say is I try to go at prayer more this way: Lord, I need such and such amount of money, by this date, to keep this endeavor afloat. If it's your will that I continue in the endeavor, please provide, and if its not, don't provide it.
Have I been clear?
You are VERY clear...and I am glad you asked...because many people have the same thoughts,
you are not alone! ;)
First, life is actually very simple. We were not given a spirit of confusion. (That comes from the other guy, I call the enemy.)
Rest your thoughts, give your thoughts to the Holy Spirit (see how I'm staying on topic, hahaha). :)
First, we have to think of God as our Father...
the perfect and loving kind...not the alcoholic, awful human kind, lol!
We also, must remember all His words and promises.
He wants us HAPPY, abundant in all ways, (family, relationships, job, finances, health!)
Jesus said clearly, Do not worry, have no fear, (Paul) Be anxious for nothing, Cast your cares, give me your burdens, Ask believe and receive...
according to His Will...
but, we know His Will is for our health and happiness in all arenas of life.
If His little girl wants a red convertible for graduation...what Father wouldn't get it for her. This is our God with all
His riches...He never gives a stone when you ask for bread.
Don't complicate life, sis...God is actually not mysterious...He follows the brilliant System He made...sow/reap...ask/receive...
believe/receive...draw close to Him and He draws close to you, call to Him and He will tell you great and unsearchable things. (Jer 33:3)
(I love Jeremiah, I have so many verses memorized, lol)
Isn't it wonderful...to let go and rest in our Father, letting go of our questions and doubts that the enemy places there.
Let Him make your path straight by acknowledging Him always. Proverbs 3
(That is one of the secrets of life, btw.)
Blessings. :)
