Hello everyone,
Does anybody here have a referral for long haul movers? I'll be moving from NY to NC in about 60ish days and just wondered if any on here has had good experience with state to state movers? I travel lightly as I'm minimal so, won't be much to move.
It's so difficult to discern what to believe with "reviews"

I would love to hear anything anyone has to say about this.

Thank you so much!

I'm trusting and praying that The Lord will give me discernment here.

I've used Mayflower and Allied on my two interstate moves. I was a little perturbed with Mayflower for taking a side trip to Indiana (they had consolidated loads with another customer) and so they were late delivering my stuff (including my car) down to SoFla. This kicked off a chain of events that resulted in my mom back in Colorado getting a visit from a US Marshall wanting to know why I hadn't returned my rental car and talking about issuing a warrant for my arrest on a charge of Grand Theft - Auto. Hey, the lady at Hertz said they would just extend the contract for as long as I needed. She didn't mention that I needed to come to the Hertz office in person; it couldn't be done over the phone.

In retrospect, I should've made the 2,000 mile drive from Colorado to Florida rather than shipping the car.

When we moved from New York to Colorado back in the 60s, the driver (I think it was either Northern or United van lines) decided halfway through the trip that he was sick of life on the road, abandoned the van in some back alley in St. Louis, called his boss and told him to take this job and shove it, and went home to be with his wife. It took the company a while to find the van. All our stuff (including the car) was still there; I guess St. Louis was a lot safer back then.

We used Presto Logistics to move an antique dining set from SoCal to Oregon. Everything went as well as I thought it could, all parties were happy with the outcome. I was there to watch them prep the stuff for transit, they did a great job!

Much love!

Thank you for the question.

It has been too long for us, and moving business seems to have changed a bunch. Some companies apparently just do coordination, or help you pack, and someone else has the transport.

We have one large item to ship to a daughter, and it used to be a moving van could add one item, but so far the “moving” companies say, nope, we should contact a freight company!

Hope all turns out well for you.

Hi Nancy, my only experience is from Europe to North America, it went smooth, the whole household, including a motorcycle (haha), by boat and train.
Not much help to you!

Later I moved 6 times, and we did it ourselves.

I hope and pray things go well for you, including your health situation!
Bless you, Nancy!

Thank you both,
His guidance brought me to a reputable moving company, Colonial Van Lines. Pricy but they are all around the same anyhow.
Much love and thoughts to you both!

Best wishes re you move.

Good time to shed some old items. Also, if you can afford it, unload furniture and buy more when you arrive. The old may not work in your new adobe.

Also, be prepared for a much different culture and accent!

Blessings.

Forecast for Greensboro, NC next Tuesday: High of 100°F, humidity 80% (in the morning).

Welcome to summer in North Carolina!

But the winters are better than Buffalo's.
