30Jesus asked him, saying, “What is your name?”
And he said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him. 31And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss.

Is the Abyss inside Jesus Christ, that would be the one place they could do no harm and he is fire is that what the lake of fire is will they spend eternity inside God being tormented. We know Jesus is the Fathers bosom.

The abyss in this case is simply out of that area, reading the parallel account in Mark helps to understand. Soon however the demons will be locked into another abyss, for 1000 yrs and after that they will be cast into the lake of fire for their demise, after being allowed to roam the earth for a short time.

  • Revelation 20:14 (KJV)
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

  • Revelation 20:15 (KJV)
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
  • Revelation 20:10 (KJV)
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Rev 22:14-15
14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

So how does Rev 22:15 line up with Rev 20:15, it appears from Rev 22:15 all can gain entry for eternity if they turn from there ways does that include satan and his demons or is everyone in the book of life except satan and demons and they will be in a separate place?

Is the Abyss inside Jesus Christ, that would be the one place they could do no harm and he is fire is that what the lake of fire is will they spend eternity inside God being tormented. We know Jesus is the Fathers bosom.
The Abyss is the underworld, a lower part of Hades where demons are imprisoned. We are in Christ and the Abyss is not. All that is pure and perfect is in Christ.
Sheol (Hades) is not Hell. Hell is the Lake of Fire. "Death and Hades are both cast into the Lake of Fire and destroyed so they cannot be the same place. The Abyss is also called the Bottomless Pit.
Sheol comes from the word shaol, which means, to ask, demand or require. So Hades is asking, demanding and requiring souls. Satan is behind this drawing power that tempts the unsaved soul to come to Daddy. Souls can store up sin and wrath which pulls them towards their possible destiny. Fortunately, God has a drawing power of Love and Grace to pull His chosen to safety. Hades also means hidden and unseen.
Job 10:21, 21 describes it as the land of darkness.
Job 25:5, 6 says departed spirits tremble under the waters. (of the earth).
Abaddon, the destroyer, is an angel of the Abyss whom is released in the Apocalypse (Rev. 9:11). So we can see that Abaddon is not in a burial grave, he is in a different territory in the lower realm of Hades, separate from where ungodly souls are.
Deut. 32:22 describes fire to the lowest part of Sheol that consumes the earth and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.
This is a physical place beneath the mountains (volcanos), deep in the earth. Actually if you were to go to the center of the earth, and there was a huge cavern, it would be bottomless, just ceiling all around depending on your gravitional position. Godzilla and King Kong know where this place is - lol.
2 Pet. 2:4 says God imprisoned angels to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment.
"Then the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from heaven which had fallen to the earth; and the key of the bottomless pit was given him. He opened the bottomless pit, and smoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke of a Great furnace; and the sun and air were darkened by the smoke of the pit." Rev. 9:1, 2
This event will be like a massive super-volcanic eruption -which could create a huge lava lake of fire. One area that is prone to this kind of eruption would be Yellowstone National Park. Another is The Great Rift Valley, which is a series of connecting faults that stretch more than 3700 miles from northern Syria, through Lebanon, the Jordan River Valley through the Sea of Galilee, then down through the Dead Sea, to the Red Sea and through Africa to Mozambique.
This Great Rift Valley contains thirty volcanoes, some active and some dormant. Evidence of cone-shaped craters and/or volcanic lava sheets exist all throughout the wilderness outside of Jerusalem. Sodom and Gomorrah was on the east side of the Dead Sea.
During Christ's time, the Dead Sea was even called the Lake of Fire and Smoke. Other names for it were the Sea of Sodom, the Sea of Lot, the Devil's Sea. A reservoir of Fire and brimstone exists beneath the surface of this area.
This area is where Jesus cast the herd of demon possessed pigs over the cliff. Satan tempted Jesus near Mt. Quarantal..The High Priests sent out the scapegoat which was symbolically laden with the sins of Israel into this wilderness area.
Somewhere along this passage is the entrance into the Abyss that will be opened during the Great Tribulation.

This happened at a place called Gadara which was at the time a Roman province of Syria. The demons knew Jesus had the power to cast them out into a state of eternal darkness known as the abyss, the deep, or the bottomless pit.

2Pe 2:17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
Jud 1:6
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
Jud 1:13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

I think you might be confusing the time of the fulfillment of those passages Marc because of their location in the Bible. Rev 20:15 occurs after 22:15. Yes, although Rev 22:15 is referring to those who refuse to repent; 1 Cor 6:11 brings out that at this time those kind of people can certainly repent.
