faithful I think you misunderstanding something hereHe is NOT talking about trading his faith for meditation only using it to relax and focus why is that a problem ??he never said it was more important than prayer or God.I think you are way over analyzing this everyone does something to relax and cope with stress whether it be taking a walk, or a long soak in the tub, or a glass of wine whatever he prefers to meditate. The fact is stress causes illness so if he feels it helps him I don't understand why you have a problem with this ?? I get your point we should depend on God for healing but God never says we should not do all we can to help ourselves not get ill.In fact he says we should treat our body as a temple. So I dont think Meditating takes away from anyones belief Frankly, I think God would be giving him a pat on the back for being a self disciplined enough to be able to block the world out for a time.

I have watched people tear my feelings on this apart but I wanted to express them anyhow in the hopes it is taken as my own feelings and not necessarily for anybody else, mostly because I believe we each must celebrate, worship, praise and look to God in our own way... but the Bible says "Be still and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10). I meditate on a daily basis. I spend the first few minutes praying, talking to my Father and asking him to help me feel his calming presence and to help me calm my mind so that I may listen more clearly to Him. THen I meditate and my chant is that very verse over, and over, until my mind is cleared. Then when my mind is cleared if I start to get an interruptive thought (which I often do) I will ask that He take that thought away and bless it in His own way... I guess what I'm saying is that, for me, meditation is a very real and powerful connection to me on my path closer to God every day...

Dear Follow Christ, You seem to have a yearning to know the Lord;such an honesty and openness to ask questions and admit views whether right or wrong. That's a good quality. Before we can ever come to know Christ, we have to be real with where we are. We have to come like we are and see ourselves as needing Him. It sounds like you may need to nail down some beliefs by getting to know what the Bible has to say- not me or anyone else, for our words are powerless to save you. I certainly don't know at what point you gave your life completely to Christ, but to be saved, you have to agree with Him that what He says is right and what you say doesn't really matter. He said He is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE (John 14:6). That pretty much sums it up. Then, your meditation will take on new meaning, as will your whole life. The Bible speaks of meditating a lot in Psalms, but it always relates to meditating on the Lord. You could begin with Psalm 19:14, "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer." (other verses are in Psalm 119 and the "Be still and know that I am God" is Ps. 46:10)

I am in the process of getting to "know what the bible says" ...what other people say is just my chosen alternative to learn more about the bible in addition to reading the bible. Where did I say that I need YOU or anyone else to learn it?

Look at a Bible concordance and see how many times it mention's "Meditation". Here is just one, Joshua 1: 8,This book of the law [God's word] shall not depart out of your mouth; but thou shalt MEDITATE day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein; FOR THEN THOU SHALT MAKE THY WAY PROSPEROUS, AND THEN THOU SHALT HAVE GOOD SUCCESSNotice one of the things that gives you success, is meditating on God's word.It is ok to meditate as long as you do it on the Bible
