MY FOREVER FRIEND

I have a friend who walks beside me
On this path that is my life.
I know he will protect and guide me;
Comfort me in times of strife.

He is my rock; he is my fortress,
He is my king, my all in all.
He is my shield, he is my refuge;
He will catch me when I fall.

When my strength is all but gone,
And I feel I can’t go on,
He reaches out and takes my hand;
He lifts me from the searing sand
And carries me a while.

Until my spirit’s been restored
My Jesus, my redeemer Lord
Holds me close against his breast;
In him my weary soul finds rest.

And when he knows I’ll stand secure
He sets me on my feet once more.
I turn to look into his face,
Awed by his power, love and grace;
And regaining strength with every stride
I continue walking by his side
Refreshed.

Love this Pat! Such comforting Truth. If I did not think that He loved me...I would rather die. The doubts do come on now and then, and that is mostly from many things posted on here. We can come away from a post feeling very unsaved, unloved by God. And, others...like THIS ONE, I come away with confidence in my salvation.
Thank you for lifting my spirits today, and hopefully others as well,
God Bless you sister!
xx

This one was 'given' to me as I prayed for a friend going through tough times. When I gave it to her she cried because it was just what she needed.

Freedom

Lord I can’t live a day without you;
I’m so glad that you chose me.
I am nothing without you Lord;
You broke my ties and set me free.

You’ve set me free of all restrictions,
That are imagined or are real;
You taught my thirsty soul to love, Lord;
And my hardened heart to feel.

You gave my life a sense of purpose;
Opened paths before my feet;
You quenched my thirst with living water;
Gave me the bread of life to eat.

I know that you are always with me;
A loving Father, close at hand.
You’ve made me be a fruitful tree Lord;
I am not just a grain of sand.

You’ve turned me on the potter’s wheel, Lord;
So I’m not just a lump of clay;
But something beautiful and useful;
Use me now Lord, this I pray.

Pat Ball aka Pearl
I just read this again and I recognize the poetic prophetic flow that I have seen in my own songwriting. Beautiful song, Pat.

@Pearl Reminds me of the hymn, 'Have Thine own way, Lord'.

Have Thine own way Lord
Have Thine own way
Thou art the potter I am the clay
Mold me and make me after Thy will
While I am waiting yielded and still

Have Thine own way Lord
Have Thine own way
Search me and try me Master today
Whiter than snow Lord wash me just now
As in Thy presence humbly I bow

Have Thine own way Lord
Have Thine own way
Hold over my being absolute sway
Filled with Thy spirit till all can see
Christ only always living in me

I am what I am, a child of the great I Am, by the blood of the Lamb, the Lamb who was slain.
I'm precious in His sight, the apple of His eye, I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

I live in Nashville TN...
There are so many people in the music business here it's unbelievable.

Then because of the cutting edge video processing we have tons of that here too.

On top of this...
Between the Abingdon Press, Thomas Nelson and SBC Publishing board AKA Lifeway we got the COC and SDA publishing and I'm drawing a blank on the Bible Printers name...

Lots and lots of music and religious people here in this city.

Guitar Town...known around the world as the home of country music.
I grew up in Clarkson, Ontario.
My Uncle Reg and Aunt Spud (Muriel was her given name) lived in the Toronto suburb of Etobicoke.
My father and my mother's sister's husband left rural New Brunswick in the early 50s for Toronto, hoping to find a better life for their 2 families.
They both ended up finding careers at Continental Can of Canada, an American-owned company.
You could say I was raised on American money.
Our two families would visit often, taking turns from house to house.
During one visit to Etobicoke, I was informed that I could no longer play in the rec-room as it now served as the residence for a border.
His name was Tom Connors.
He quickly became part of the family.
We became friends.
He got a gig playing at a local bar called, "The Horseshoe Tavern."
He didn't seem to have much of a life at the time so he was present at most family get-togethers.
Whenever I asked, he always played my favorite song of his, "Goodbye Rubber Head."
I know he wasn't very fond of Nashville, though I lost touch with him in my teenage years.
I hope things were sorted out. :)
