Pretty much, I think, except that while the outer man is wasting away, the inner man grows stronger.
Ha! Or weaker maybe, depending
People look at me strange sometimes when I tell them I'm in no hurry.
yeh, dont think its gonna happen literally tbh, least not for millennia. dunno

You have point. And perhaps your right, not being the "focus". I don't recall Paul or any of the apostles emptying out a hospital either ... but they always gave glory to the Lord and this collectively is what spread abroad.

BTW, I like your example of modern day counterfeit.
Thanks!
I think you will find that they didn't empty out hospitals because there were none. Hospitals were the product of Christians at a later date who took upon themselves to care for people in an organized way.

The same with universities all products of Christians.

a thing im noticing is that it could be said we live in a miracle, im chatting with a buddy in jerusalem a moment ago, all more or less "free," as a for-instance, but there are many other examples i guess, a point being that according to many life has never been better for us than it is right now, by any measure one might care to use, yet Christians are, broadly speaking, all waiting for the end of the world in anticipation? This is passing strange to me, yet i am complicit, too. Well, even if it is tech speaking not "illegal" :)

are we doomed as we get older to moan more and more, as the world gets better and better?
work while it is day, for the night is coming, when no man can work

Between you, me and the gatepost, I am not convinced the world is getting better. I agree we are making leaps and bounds in healthcare and a few other allied things, but overall there are more wars taking place now than there has ever been. I read someone where there are at least 40 wars happening at any given time.

Plus almost every country is at war with itself, fighting rebellious elements who believe they are above the law.

And too many governments are fighting the insurgence of pornography which is destroying nations inwardly judging by the amount of sex abuse of children and the amount of sex trafficking that goes on.

The end or finish is coming [or is it here now?]... my finish and your finish and her finish and his finish?

Is it day still or has night already arrived... for anyone?

Here we see the finish of Jesus:

"When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost." John 19:30

And here the finish of Paul:

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:" II Tim 4:7

And then here does it speak of our finish?

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Heb 12:2

When there is no more faith is because this is no longer what faith is?

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Heb 11:1

When our vision is perfectly clear is faith then replaced by face to face vision and knowledge?

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." I Cor 13:12

With all that men and churches teach us is it at all confusing [as through a glass darkly] to anyone?

"For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace,.." I Cor 14:33

Does anyone need just one more touch?

"And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly" Mark 8:23-25

What is we are not Finish? What if we are American? Is it the same for them?

we dont see miracle workers in hospitals for the same reason we dont see psychics winning the lottery i guess.peace

The fact that psychics do not win the lottery makes me wonder why people believe a word they say. Perhaps the fact that they don't win is the reason why there is no such thing as a happy medium.

What is we are not Finish? What if we are American? Is it the same for them?
For Americans it is likely worse than for most others because we have been given so much:

Lu 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." Luke 12:48

Because God has given us more, He expects more of a return from us. Americans in particular and others as well often forget this verse:

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." Rom 12:1

This is not special or outstanding service. It is only reasonable service. People, who claim the tag of Christian, from where I am looking too often appear to be very selfish. In another place Paul writes this:

"Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself." Phil 2:3

Hey... I am pointing my finger at me too!

ha but how do we know that 40 is not down from 400? You say that there are more wars now than ever, but i wonder if they are not just better advertised now?
"This entry presents an empirical perspective on the history of war and peace. We also published a data visualization history of human violence here on OurWorldInData.org which presents empirical data showing that we are now living in the most peaceful time in our species’ existence..."
War and Peace
(from a search of "there are more wars taking place now than there has ever been," just the first hit tho, and there are i guess competing perspectives on the page, might be interesting to see how they stack up even) this one is the nearest in terms of search competitor, and i'll leave you to decide, but imo there is no comparison even in reading the two? Ine presents evidence, the other conjecture, etc

Fwiw i was shocked myself when i first heard the suggestion that the world is better now, but we even have indices for that sort of thing, the morality index for instance, and it got me started on perspective, and where we put our focus. So maybe ask yourself why you believe that there are more wars now than ever, when the evidence seems to suggest otherwise?

And we are examining "war" here, but do we realize that there used to be a literal "law of sin and death?" Can we even imagine such a world? "Where is your brother?" "Oh, he was caught in a lie yesterday, he's dead"
Plus almost every country is at war with itself, fighting rebellious elements who believe they are above the law.
ha well i am def above the law, so im not sure what to say to that; which is surely being heard diff than i mean it, too...um, we currently have a "law" that prevents us greeting each other with a kiss, right, at least in the world we do, and when i am in Rome i obey this law so as not to offend, however this law is complete suicide, as many doctors/immunologists will even attest--at the literal risk of their livelihoods btw--as we need to swap spit to maintain our immune systems.

and being the rebellious type that i am, i was tempted to "fight" also, was even engaged in that, but then a weird thing happened, this older hippy chick i work with more now on nights, but barely knew at the time kinda spontaneously engaged me in a hugandkiss, and i realized that i didnt have to fight anything lol, and no one can stop me from kissing whomever is amenable? Which is actually anathema for me, an autist, i am def not in to hugging and kissing.

btw when did "flatten the curve" which implies absolutely no lives saved whatsoever turn into "you're saving a life by social distancing?"

also why are we not hearing squat on how to imrove personal immunity, not a peep as near as i can tell, msm-wise anyway?

so, i guess we--you and i--are likely at odds on this, and fwiw i choose greet each other with a kiss, while at the same time respecting your right to stay sanitized at all times, should you desire, but i can only suggest that that will backfire on you most horribly later imo
And too many governments are fighting the insurgence of pornography which is destro
wadr i would disagree here also, but tbh i dont really care what governments are fighting, and i even suggest that "governments" manifest the pornography, a natural response to what i will call Puritanism, or religion, or washing the outside of the cup maybe?

We--speaking of wars lol--are currently in a War on Poverty, a War on Pornography, a War on Drugs, a War on Terrorism, and now a War on Covid19, right? When will we learn, do you think? Maybe we should be applying live by the sword, die by the sword a bit more literally lol, but briefly speaking it should be obv on some level that what one fights, grows

so wadr i would have to ask you to better demonstrate this "too many governments are fighting the insurgence of pornography," bc near as i can tell they are actually aiding it about every way they can lol. Wadr i suggest that that is just a focus of yours for whatever reason, by which i do not mean "bad" ok, but allow me to suggest that historically speaking in the very recent past it was considered acceptable to sell one's children, and still is in many parts of the world?

Whereas now we at least decry the practice, and even prosecute...ha, well, at least prosecute ppl who are not connected, in government iow, right? I mean Bill Clinton has been all the way outed, but still walks the streets eh. And if you believe Epstein is dead then i mostly sympathize, wadr

the miracle workers not in hospitals might be more to the point tho. I suggest that there is a hidden truth in an angel roils the water, but only one gets healed
