Movies with bad language

I was meditating on this verse
1 Peter 1:15-16 “15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

Then I thought about the new Batman movie we watched yesterday. It had some bad language and it was pg-13. It depicted some heroic actions but a lot of corruption amongs criminals as well.

Are movies with bad language something we as Christians should avoid?

In general, yes, I think so.

This really comes down to a matter of conscience. And being honest about how it affects you. F-bomb laced movies shut me down. A smattering of d's and a's I can endure. But the language issue usually directly correlates to the sexuality in the movie, so most movies aren't even on my list to watch because of the nudity and sexual situations. People get frustrated at work because they'll say, "have you seen that movie?", and I'm like, 'no'. And they like to say, "you'll like this movie because it's safe", when in actuality it probably isn't. It's only 'safe' relative to the junk in other movies they've seen. I wish I could watch movies like I could in the old days of family censored movies on broadcast TV, like Ferris Bueller, lol. I can only stand to watch the safe TV version of that.

I am not a big movie person, especially when it comes to Hollywood type movies. But I have loved Batman since I was a child so hubby and I gave it a shot. It was just okay.

I think Ill stick to what Ive been doing mostly, which avoids most Hollywood creations altogether.

I am an auditory learner and sometimes something silly and filthy will replay in my head for days after I hear it. If faith comes through hearing, filth probably does too.

I don't even know at this point if I should be "enduring" bad language. I don't try to control the way other people around me speak but I do have control over what I watch.

Yes, only you know what affects you. One time I made a comment at work about not watching a movie because of 'b---bs'. And the guy I was talking to said, "oh, those are nothing". To him it was nothing, relative to the hardcore porn he was watching.

I will point out that women justify watching movies with naked women in them because they themselves are women. But love scenes don't just have a woman in it, lol! There's a man there, and whether they're showing his parts or not (I understand they are these days) it's still an arousing sexual situation that I think a Christian woman should not indulge.

I believe that these images and movies of poorly clad women, and sexual scenes, are degrading to women. It helps breed a society who devalues and mistreats women and sees them as objects rather than people with value.

I am also not a movie-wat her. But if I do (on very rare occasion) watch a movie and all I hear is curse words every other sentence, I turn it off. To me, that's an indicator that the movie has nothing of value to offer. If someone doesn't have enough intellect to speak normal sentences, they don't have anything of value to merit my time watching/hearing. That's not entertaining to me.

I do sometimes watch Christian movies ...but many of those are low-budget and thus, poorly acted. But even Christian movies, I probably watch maybe a few a year. I'd rather watch YouTube (gardening, homestead, off-grid, Bible tea hing, etc). Then, I can sub what I like and watch those ....a much better way to spend my time learning something productive, or hearing Biblical content.... and many of the gardening/homestead channels I watch include Christian content as well.

I haven't watched tv in a long time.
The last time my dad was here he put on a soap opera. I don't even know which one, young and the restless maybe?
So I'm sitting there eating lunch and I actually felt my face go red.
I made a comment about how soap operas have changed since I watched them years ago. (Days of our lives was my favorite)
That opened up an interesting conversation (not) while we were eating lunch.
I can't watch tv anymore. I find no good thing on it. And the bulk of it is propaganda or subliminal messaging.

As far as bad language goes, I don't hear it. Some words I find offensive, specially body parts, but F bombs, and other adjectives,
I've gone numb to. Truck driving does that to you. Every other word is a swear until it's just part of the language.
After awhile you just sipher out the words that aren't necessary.
I can't believe my (bleeping) cat just knocked down the (bleeping) vase. Now I have to clean up this (bleeping) mess.

I don't even hear the bleeps anymore.
Some videos I watch on the internet are chock full of bleeps. I can still enjoy the video by adjusting my filter.
I try not to post things that are or can be offensive. But if I do I ussually put a warning label "LANGUAGE* , when I do.
That way people can decide if they want to watch, and maybe prepare to adjust their own filters.

But yeah, I haven't been to the movies in ages, and I don't watch tv anymore.

Yes indeed dear sister . What we entertain will effect us BIG TIME and the more folks entertain it the more they
grow less and less aware that its transforming their minds and hearts right back unto the old man .
Sin is deadly . Its like a cancer . It truly is . Let all who name the glorious and wonderous name of Christ
depart from even the viewing and the hearing of such filth . Your right dear sister .

This goes both ways . YET THE MORE we entertain good and holy biblical truth the more we grow
in Christ . Flee all appearance of evil and cling to that which is good . The more we read our bibles
and are in prayer to GOD and are doers of the things our LORD did teach the more and more we shall grow in wisdom .

The words referring to excrement, or eternal condemnation, or body parts, or sex acts, those I can tolerate. What I do NOT like hearing is my Savior's name taken in vain. If I let that into my head, it will find its way into my heart, and from there to my lips. That, I don't want.

There is such a lot of dark stuff on TV and films these days. I prefer to watch good wholesome things rather than anything with sex or violence. This is a good guide:

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

i think Christians do need discernment on what type of movies they watch, they can choose or choose not to watch movies with profanity or other stuff in them, they just need to have God's guideance :)
So lets see what is GODS opinion on evil and how we should approach even the appearance of evil .
For that I INVITE us to read the bible . Flee ALL appearance of evil .
Cling to that which is GOOD . AND if want to truly learn Christ , then pick up the GOOD book called the bible .

Little House On The Prairie and The Waltons were wholesome tv shows based on Christian families.

Now they have filth like Modern Family, which advocates homosexuality, disgusting.
