On the one hand a lot of current and former Western leaders will hesitate to go to Mr. Gorbachev's funeral because they will be at pains to show that they don't wish to meet Mr. Putin; on the other hand, Mr. Putin won't be there in any case.
I think Putin is not going because of what Gorbachev represents to the Russian people. I have read Gorbachev has become very disliked now.
