Does anyone know why Americans put the month before the day?
We have the day written first 11-4-22

Only a guess, but perhaps is was part of the rebellion? It is the way I was taught in school a great many decades ago. By the time I traveled to Europe and went to school in Germany, I already knew that things like that were not the same. Better...? Worse...? Hmmm?

everything in the west is a mirror image of the east.
Our political systems are opposite. Our dates are opposite.
Launguage used to be written left to right, now it's right to left.
And even some are written top to bottom. LOL
What a world of confusion.

It aint hard to see what days we living in and that time indeed grows very short .

If we went full big-endian (biggest unit first, second biggest unit second, third biggest unit third, e.g. 2022-April-11), it would make sense. But we mix them. Illogical.

Maybe because in spoken English, "April Eleventh" is more common than "Eleventh of April"?

Iv also wondered that.
I think "April eleventh" is what the Americans most likely say and "eleventh of April" is how it's mostly said in Aus and UK.

Smallest unit first and biggest unit last is logical.
But middle unit first, small unit second is backwards.

I wonder how Canada does it

I tend to agree with Ziggy. Americans do things backwards. The imperial system of numbers in America is obsolete, this is just like that, a crap way of expressing a set of numbers
