I am a nondenominational Christian. I do not know what gifts God gave me, but I can speak in tongues. A minor gift from what I understand. I have work, and prayed for many years to know my gifts, and thus far I have not discovered them or am not ready to know them.
I don't really know what to say about my Christian background. I was saved at 17. I did not go to church as a child so I was basically starting blind. I think it worked in my favor since I can to see God and the bible without any long standing false teachings bouncing around in my head. I have concentrated on growing in faith and Gods wisdom for most of my adult life, but it is slow going. Thankfully it is not how fast you travel the path that is important only that you are travelling Gods path. The biggest help for me in my growth as a Christian was from Celebrate Recovery, where I worked on my mistrust of people issues and my social loner issues. I hope that at least partially answers your question.
