"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God..."

Myth making, especially in the ancient days of paganism in the Graeco-Roman and Near East world, has been the devil's single most effective tool for muddying the waters and raising up a dark cloud around God's Word in the Bible.

He would make myths in the minds of pagans, who knew not the oracles of God, so that they would be singing the muses' versions of truth in Scripture.

In this way people could write off the Bible itself as just another book of myths about far-past historical events, who's true descriptions are 'lost' in time. Or when things are prophesied for the future, they will dismiss them as myths that have already been written.

1. The most obvious is the 'myth' of historical even is that of the flood. That of Gilgamesh and of Noah.

Many believe Gilgamesh was Nimrod, the one to make first war with the Lord God in heaven by creating his own false religion and worship on earth.

Nevertheless, in the Gilgamesh myth he actually defeats the evil god that caused the flood: Humbaba: Aka Yaweh, the God who's name is hard to say. A literal satirical and demonizing name for the Lord God, as un Humbug.

Also, Gilgamesh consults the only survivor of the flood by the boat him built and was deified for it: Utnapishtim. Aka: Noah.

The reason for the flood is that the gods were angry with mankind making too much noise in an uproar: speaking with one voice and worship.

Incidental in the Gilgamesh epic is Enkidu, the wild man of the forest that was fashioned by Aruru out of clay and spittle. I.e. Jesus' giving sight to the blind man making the dirt into clay with His spit.

Future prophecy of old myth.

The 'demon locusts': They literally come out of the smoke and fog to make war, from the bottomless pit opened by the fallen star from heaven. They were given power as power of scorpions, commanded not to hurt any green thing and tree, with torment as Scorpion strikes a man, shapes like horses prepared for battle, faces of men, hair like women. and wings sound as many chariots. The King of the bottomless pit over them was Apollyon.

The Centaurs: From Kentaurus, race of half horse half man with faces of men and long-haired like manes of horses, and wild and lawless as locusts, but in the forests, where they do not hurt green trees. Their main weapon of choice was a powerfully strong bow and arrow, from whence they get their name: the sting of the arrow when striking a man: kentos. The same as that of the sting of the scorpion's tail. They were the 'horses' for the chariots of the wine god Dionysius.

Their father was Ixion, who had been invited to dine with the gods in Olympus, but tried to seduce Hera, and so Zeus made a cloud in her image, from whence Ixion begat the race of Centaurs, and he was cast out of heaven, fallen from heaven. Ixian was an offspring of Apollo.

Therefore, fallen star by transgression from heaven with horse shaped locusts and faces of men, born out of the smoky cloud, with the stings as of arrows for war, who do not do harm to forests, and lawless as the locusts of the earth, who's purpose is to make war with mankind. Apollyon was the destructive character trait of Apollo, or Apollos.

Someone well versed with Greek mythology would spot the similarities fairly quickly, not because Scripture is prophesying myth, but rather that myth is the devil's weapon of choice, using the fog of war to delegitimize the Bible.

The Titans: The Titans were the gods preceding the Olympians. Their leader Cronus seized power from the father Uranus and ruled the cosmos, and produced offspring of their own by mating with their sisters and produced the next generation of Titans or giants such as Prometheus, Helios, and Leto. The original Titans were in turn defeated by the new Olympian gods led by Zeus in a ten-year war called the Titanomachy. Cronus and the Titans were banished from the upper world in the sky, and most of them were imprisoned in Tartarus, the underworld dungeon of darkness. But a few including Prometheus were allowed to remain in the upper world with destructive effect upon man.

The Fallen angels: The angels were created by God and referred to as sons of God. They rebelled under Lucifer the archangel against the Lord God and Father, and went down to earth to mate with the daughters of men and produced giants upon the earth. They were defeated by war in heaven, and for their sin God caste then down to hell: tartaro, Cast down into Tartarus with chains of darkness. Their leader Lucifer was defeated and fell like lightening from heaven, but returned after Adam's transgression as prince and power of the air.

The Olympians: the new gods, offspring of the old god Uranus, who defeated His rebellious Titans in war and began to reign over the earth from Mt Olympus. Zeus was the sky god of thunder ruling as leader of the other Olympian gods. His lightening bolt was responsible for victory over Cronus.

The Lord Jesus: The Lord of the New Covenant replacing the Old, begotten of God the Father, who defeated Lucifer at the cross, and after His angels cast the dragon out of heaven, reigns with His resurrected saints on earth for a thousand years.

So, the Titans - fallen angels. Cronus - Lucifer. Prometheus defeated Titan in the upper world : Satan in the air. Uranus - God the Father. Zeus - Lord Jesus.
Olympians - Reigning saints with the resurrected Lord of the New Covenant on earth.

At this point, it is no small wonder that many fell from grace and faith in Jesus by the Arian heresy of the Lord Jesus being a created god and comes down to reign on earth, following the defeat of Lucifer and the rebellious angels of heaven. Reading the Scripture in this light almost plays out as mythological science-fiction itself.

Devil's mythology and resultant pagan religion was intended for this very thing. He could not stop God and the Lord Jesus, and was defeated at every turn, but he was allowed to muddy the waters of truth enough to deceive them that could be deceived...
