Hello to all,
I am new here and you have to over look my technical problems as I figure this all out. I tried to post this before and if it went up on the board I can't find it.

I am working on a project I call The Affirmation. I haven't been here long enough to post links yet by forum rules, but I am working on a book, website and social media for the project. I could use some prayer support, suggestions about affirming your life and some of your favorite affirmations. If there is interest here I will post short excerpts from the book and ask for comments and suggestions.

Thanks in advance,
Scott Hogue

My affirmations ---I am a joint heir.
I am a daughter of a King - the King.
My Father wants me to be adundant, happy and healthy.
There is never ever never anything to ever worry about....ever.
Ask anything and He will answer me.
My Father will give me anything I ask in His Name according to His will.
If I look for Him with all my heart and all my soul I will find Him.
God works for the good for those that love Him.
Always research God, always think about God, always talk to God, always trust God.
Know and understand Him.
Never be afraid.
Delight in Him.
Be still.
Pray without ceasing.
Focus on the things above and not the things on the earth.
I can't imagine the heighth, the breadth, the depth, the length of God's Love.
Remember not the former things...
Pretty much all Isaiah 43 :)

Those are just off the top - they are my rock, plus maybe10 more...

I think on these everyday of my life - my friends don't really get why I am so consistently happy. For years - every second.
Thought control. Focus, Discipline - Following these words to a tee, like a soldier in combat.
Because everything above is true and to be followed with no exceptions what so ever - they are the secret to this life.
Write them and put them up for everyone to see - till they become a part of you.

Very good thoughts. I agree about thought control. The words have some bad connotations from late night movies, but the truth is if we don't direct and control our thoughts the world will direct them for us. As Christians it is important to focus on Christ and the father. We give away our blessings and power when we run with the world, but like the prodigal son we can always come home.
Thank you!

Anyone else?
God bless,

I found your words interesting. I highlighted them. Nothing wrong with them!

They are just so different from the way I think. For me it is not the "world".
I don't think of the world so much being an issue ( I know it is - just not for me).

It's primarily what goes on in my own head. Thoughts that may come from nowhere --
Christians call it the devil - I say the ego, the lower ego self.
It (ego, devil, the mind), the lower self) seems to want me to spiral away from thoughts of the Kingdom of God, being a
joint heir and all that means (happiness, confidence, peace,..)
wanting to replace them with fears or worry, etc.

I could be on a retreat for a month away from "the world" per se ---my enemy is within.
And I'm winning. It hardly bothers me anymore because of all my slap downs!!!

One affirmation I heard over and over while I was in Africa was "God is in control."

Something we forget from time to time.

Sweet sentiment -but not the case yet.
Anyone want to step in and correct that statement , also?
God's not in control...
just look at any terrible thing that goes on here. He gave man free will and dominion here.
Looks to me something else is in control. He's like the Landlord - but there's a leasee living here.

It's because of this mistaken idea there are angry atheists out there -as in-" How could a loving God
let a 4 yr old be ...hurt?"
They think God is in control also.

God=Landlord/Father/Owner ----children =brats/running amuck/loose canons

God in control -no.

HIS thoughts are not YOUR thoughts, nor HIS ways YOUR ways.

Isa. 45:7
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things].

He allowed Assyria to disperse the Northern Kingdom and Babylon to disperse the Southern Kingdom ... TO BRING US ALL BACK TO HIMSELF.

Hi Scott. Welcome to the forum.

The word affirmation can have many applications. Why not discuss what exactly you are trying to accomplish with your project so we can have some idea what it is.

That way it doesn't look like you are just dropping links and blowing through every site you can find. Lately we seem to get one of those a day.

Tell us more and best wishes.

Thank you for your comments.
I think I understand what you are saying, but I wonder how atheists that don't believe in God think He is in control. I am not sure I get that part.

We all have different ideas from different viewpoints. From my viewpoint I believe that we can have free will and still God be in control. God is just not "controlling" as we look at it from a human stand point. Does God have a plan for the world and mankind? I believe so. Are there boundaries to what God will allow? I believe so. I believe the bible and I find that God sets limits but allows us free will within those limits that are the definition of our lives. For example, the bible says that except (God) shortens those days there would be no flesh saved. I think that is a boundary and God exercising control. The bible also tells us to chose who we will serve. That is free will. The bible tells us that He has His way in the whirlwind. That would seem to me to be control. Mankind blames God for the consequences of our own actions pretty frequently. There is more than enough food in the world to feed everyone. Why do people starve and go hungry? Is it God's fault or ours? I would say it is ours. God sets the landscape, but we paint the details in the picture. God did not place sin in our world. Is it His responsibility that we sin and face consequences or that we live in a world He made perfect but now is marred by sin?

I think my affirmation "God is in control" might be better understood taken with the scripture "all things work to the good of those that love the Lord." The Lord brings good out of evil. The bible tells us that God will not turn away from us to do us good. David said that goodness and mercy would follow him all of the days of his life. Paul and Silas were chained in jail. God sent the earthquake and freed them. Who was in control God or man? "God is in control" affirms that God has the greater power.

From my viewpoint I see God has given us freewill as pertains to our lives. Man opened the door to sin and that ruined our world with the consequences of sin. I would think the most rebellious of all God's creatures is the devil. But, he is still God's devil and God sets control limits even though the devil has a limited reign as prince of the powers of the air.

I can't tell you how many times God has straightened my life out after I in my free will made a mess of it, but I asked for help. That would seem to stay within the realm of free will. I would think that God is in control and He chooses to allow us free will within boundaries.

sorry for the rambling post,
God bless,
Scott Hogue

Dear Martin,
Thank you for your post.

I pretty much adopt the dictionary definition for affirmation: a declaration that something is true; a positive assertion. I find the bible to teach that the weak should say they are strong as an affirmation of their faith. It is in that context that I use the word affirmation. When I affirm something I am saying- amen, so be it. I am adding my voice to the truth and the truth to my life. It seems we live in a world without much spiritual faith. People don't even believe in themselves. Depression, misery, suicide, broken marriages and many, many other problems come from living a life without faith and conviction in a world without a positive direction. I look at affirmations as positive acts or actions that strengthen our lives in positive attainment. They are like prayer boosters. You can say something that affirms your marriage, like "I love you" or you can do something that affirms your marriage, like changing your wife's flat tire in the rain when she calls for help. Words or actions both can affirm and build up and strengthen or they can tear down and destroy depending on what they are and how they are used. Remember the man that the Lord asked him if he believed? The man said yes, but help my unbelief. I find there are levels of belief and commitment. It is one thing to say I believe that mountain can be climbed, but another to say I can climb that mountain. I think we have a lot of people in the world that believe in the mountain and some that believe it can be climbed, but very few that believe they can do the climbing. Affirmations both by word and deed have been a great help in my life and I have no doubt that affirmations can help others. In fact I believe that there is a great need for affirmations in our lives and our society.

I was thinking, what can I do to help people? I talked to a friend of mine that is a Christian counselor about affirmations and after I explained my view he said that he felt the people that came through his door bringing their problems to him would benefit from affirmations (and of course knowing God and receiving support from Him is the greatest of all affirmations) than any thing he could think of. Well, I can't just show up knocking at people's doors saying I am here to affirm your life or they would either have me in jail or an asylum before long so I decided I needed a vehicle to get the word across. That is when I came up with the affirmation project. I am writing a book and hope there will be proceeds in time to affirm the lives of the people I have met in Africa. I hope the book opens the way for me to speak to people about affirming their lives and relationships, especially their children for the next generations.
The internet and social media are amazing ways to reach people. As I proceed in the project I hope to figure out a way to reach people through these methods as well. If I understand the bible, Jesus went out a little way on a boat to speak to the people. He used it as a platform. He also went to where the people were. The project, the internet, the book all of these are my way of trying to find a platform and to go where the people are to reach them with the good news. There are things you can do that God will bless. God cares about you. You can improve your life. You can overcome your problems. You were born to be happy.

God bless,
Scott Hogue

See, you give out too much information and everyone runs and hides.

Let's start all over.

I have this little project I call the affirmation.

I look at it as non-profit and at present have absolutely nothing to sell but positive affirmations and they are free.

I would appreciate your prayer support.

If you have any ideas or affirmations you would like to share I would appreciate that too.

God bless,
Scott Hogue
