Sweet sentiment -but not the case yet.
Anyone want to step in and correct that statement , also?
God's not in control...
just look at any terrible thing that goes on here. He gave man free will and dominion here.
Looks to me something else is in control. He's like the Landlord - but there's a leasee living here.
It's because of this mistaken idea there are angry atheists out there -as in-" How could a loving God
let a 4 yr old be ...hurt?"
They think God is in control also.
God=Landlord/Father/Owner ----children =brats/running amuck/loose canons
God in control -no.
Thank you for your comments.
I think I understand what you are saying, but I wonder how atheists that don't believe in God think He is in control. I am not sure I get that part.
We all have different ideas from different viewpoints. From my viewpoint I believe that we can have free will and still God be in control. God is just not "controlling" as we look at it from a human stand point. Does God have a plan for the world and mankind? I believe so. Are there boundaries to what God will allow? I believe so. I believe the bible and I find that God sets limits but allows us free will within those limits that are the definition of our lives. For example, the bible says that except (God) shortens those days there would be no flesh saved. I think that is a boundary and God exercising control. The bible also tells us to chose who we will serve. That is free will. The bible tells us that He has His way in the whirlwind. That would seem to me to be control. Mankind blames God for the consequences of our own actions pretty frequently. There is more than enough food in the world to feed everyone. Why do people starve and go hungry? Is it God's fault or ours? I would say it is ours. God sets the landscape, but we paint the details in the picture. God did not place sin in our world. Is it His responsibility that we sin and face consequences or that we live in a world He made perfect but now is marred by sin?
I think my affirmation "God is in control" might be better understood taken with the scripture "all things work to the good of those that love the Lord." The Lord brings good out of evil. The bible tells us that God will not turn away from us to do us good. David said that goodness and mercy would follow him all of the days of his life. Paul and Silas were chained in jail. God sent the earthquake and freed them. Who was in control God or man? "God is in control" affirms that God has the greater power.
From my viewpoint I see God has given us freewill as pertains to our lives. Man opened the door to sin and that ruined our world with the consequences of sin. I would think the most rebellious of all God's creatures is the devil. But, he is still God's devil and God sets control limits even though the devil has a limited reign as prince of the powers of the air.
I can't tell you how many times God has straightened my life out after I in my free will made a mess of it, but I asked for help. That would seem to stay within the realm of free will. I would think that God is in control and He chooses to allow us free will within boundaries.
sorry for the rambling post,
