The gift of God is not faith. The Gift of God is the Cross of Christ that is the only SALVATION that God offers, that is the "GIFT of Salvation"

And so, we see how some Christians say the faith of Jesus is not the gift of God,a nd so reject His faith found written in Scripture.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

What is not of ourselves is the faith of Jesus that saves, nor our own works by our own faith. The faith of Jesus is the gift of God that saves by His grace.

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference.

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

By rejecting the faith of Jesus as the gift of God to be saved by, the Christians by their own faith alone, therefore also reject Jesus as the gift of God to the whole world:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

They choose their own faith to save themselves by, and receive not the faith of Jesus written in Scripture, nor the Jesus Christ of Scripture as the only true God and Savior.

This is also why many Christians cannot be corrected by plainly written Scripture. The words and imagination of their own minds are more important to them, than the words of Jesus and His faith that are found only in Scripture of pen and paper.

They believe and trust in the salvation and justification, that is by their own faith alone and not by the faith of Jesus only.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.

The law of Christ written in the hearts and minds of us that believe the Jesus of Scripture, is His law given to His apostles, that has already been written on paper for us to read, believe and receive into our hearts, and so to obey.

Those saved by their own faith alone, refuse the faith of Jesus as the gift of God to be saved by, as well as His law given to us in Scripture to obey.

Christians with their own faith alone, reject the faith and the law of Jesus in Scripture, and write their own laws into their hearts and minds: they have their own faith alone and are a law unto themselves.

The gift of God is the faith of Jesus, which is rejected as His gift, by them that give themselves their own faith alone.

Those who are saved and justified by their own faith alone, are their own gift to themselves as a god unto themselves:

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

They are their own god by their own faith alone, and so make for themselves their own salvation accordingly, which has one condition only: that they believe it.

The gift of God is the everlasting life given to us through the ransom sacrifice of Jesus

1 Peter 1:9 - receiving the end of YOUR faith—the salvation of your souls.
Fair response. The thread however is about our own faith alone, that does not agree with the faith of Jesus found in Scripture.

That faith is common to all faithful believers in Him, and becomes our faith, if we receive it and do it as given according to the Scripture.

That faith acknowledges that we are justified by works of faith, and not by faith alone.

The ones believing they are saved and justified by faith alone, are believing in their own faith only, while rejecting the word of God as written.

That is why we are to believe the like precious faith of faith of Jesus for salvation and justification by Christ, and not just believe what we like to think about it.

We must receive the gift of Jesus' faith as found in Scripture, and make it pour own by doing it.

This is how the righteous saints are believe and do and live the same holy and blameless life in Christ.

Living by whatever we want to believe, is not believing God nor obeying the Lord.

Couldn't have stated it any better myself Rob, exactly right.

there is no such thing as faith alone. It is a misnomer used by workers for salvation to support their works based theology.

There is a distinction between faith that trusts in Christ "alone" for salvation (Romans 4:5-6) and an empty profession of faith/dead faith that remains "alone" - barren of works. (James 2:14-24) Those who teach salvation by faith AND works don't understand the distinction.

Their pride runs deep. thats why they can't see it. They need a Saul moment. so God can change them to Paul

You're right. There is no such thing as dead faith alone. It doesn't save nor justify anyone while sinning.

Only faith with works justifies a man.

Faith alone is dead, and works alone are unjustified.

Both faith alone and works alone based theology is of man, not of God.

Faith with works based theology, is the only doctrine of Christ in Scripture.

Faith with works is the only faith, that is trusting in Jesus alone.

All others trust in themselves, whether by their own faith alone, or their own works alone.

No man while sinning with the devil, has any faith nor trust in Jesus, because the only work he is doing is of the devil, and the only faith and trust he has, is that he is not condemned by it.

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

Your anther one who can’t get out of your own way. You think your work will cause God to forgive you of your sin? Think again

We are saved by GRACE alone through FAITH alone. But faith is never alone.

Works are a byproduct of salvation. Not a payment of salvation like you and your pharisee friends want to push.

This is why Scripture tells us not to argue with heresy after the first or second admonition, because you can't and shouldn't argue with stupid.

Faith alone heresy existed enough for God to rebuke it in Scripture, and it still exists in the vain minds of people who think the power of their own imagination is enough to save and justify them. The power and free will of all created spiritual beings, whether angel or man, is to imagine what they want by their own faith alone, until the day of judgment.

And so, we have the conclusion of the whole matter: OSAS is nothing but a game of words.

Now it has been declared, that there is no such thing as faith alone, since faith can never be alone, but we are saved and justified by faith alone, which is never alone.

Since faith that saves and justifies is never alone, then that faith must always be with works to not be alone, because Scripture declares what makes faith not alone, is works:

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

So now that OSAS believers have come up with something new that saving faith alone is never alone, they must reject Scripture to say that works is not what makes faith unalone.

This is the beauty of Scripture, that God has foreseen every lie of the devil and man against His word, so that once they reject or twist one Scripture out of place, they will need to do so with another Scripture, and another Scripture, and another...

So, what will OSAS now make up in order to make their faith unalone, but not by works? Does their zeal for their own faith alone, make it not alone?
