If you look at the first account of creation in Gen.1:2 you will notice that God is only know to them as GOD.

Adam was blessed by God and did not have to do anything but tend the garden of God.
This is because once Adam fell and the tree of life was kept from man they no longer were able to know the Word of God to be able to call Him their authority for they fell far away from godly behavior and that is why the flood came.
But if you notice in the account of the generations of the heavens and earth in the beginning when the FIRST Adam was created and before he died to the Spirit and fell from grace he knew God as LORD God:
Gen 2:4-9
4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Also notice that in the beginning when the HEAVEN AND EARTH was created originally, there was only one heaven. But when the second earth is remodeled, the word is now HEAVENS and earth. The same earth is always used, but the ruling heavens change. Gen. 1:1 is the very first earth that Adam was created and was destroyed by the flood, but now by Gen.1:2 the word, AND, means THEN it became corrupted. Gen. 2 begins telling us about the first earth and then by Gen 6 the flood destroyed the first world.

2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 Peter 2:4-5
4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

We must understand, Blessed is he.... who calls upon the name of the LORD who know Him personally as their authority to LIVE BY!
