James: Justification by works

Key Text:

• James 2:24 – "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only."

Context of James:

• Audience: “The twelve tribes scattered abroad” (James 1:1) — believing Jews.
• Concern: Not showing faith and justification by works—saying you believe but showing no works for justification before God.
• Teaching:
  • James is speaking truth to those under the Kingdom Gospel (James 2:17).
  • His use of "works" refers to justifiable evidence of genuine faith
  • Emphasis: Faith and works—faith that is proven genuine by outward actions.

Paul: Justification without works

Key Texts:

• Romans 3:28 – "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." (works)
• Galatians 2:16 – "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ..."

Context of Paul:

• Audience: Gentiles and Jews alike, in the context of the gospel of grace.
• Concern: Boasting in ones works and legalism—people trying to earn salvation and justification through the Mosaic Law and good works.
• Teaching:
  • Justification is by grace through faith, not by works (Eph. 2:8–9).
  • The "works" Paul refers to are not only works of effort but also works of the Law—not by rituals, commandments, circumcision, sacraments, observances, teachings and traditions of men, etc.
  • Emphasis: Faith alone in Christ alone without works of any sort (Romans 4:5).

He's not teaching that James and Paul are not in agreement.
Hes teaching that James says that your faith is proven by your works that you produce after you become a Christian.

Paul is teaching that to become a Christian is by "Grace through Faith"....or "Justification by faith, without works or deeds of the law".

So which one do you follow, I am surprised no one answered.

I follow my fellow Jew Paul's Gospel that was given to him by Yahshuah, which is salvation by grace through faith, and that not of ourselves lest we should boast.

Those who think that they gain salvation by grace through faith, and then say, "...but you gotta live it...," they have a serious problem on their hands and in their beliefs because none of them ever stopped sinning, and yet feel themselves qualified to teach others about an alleged loss of salvation without proper works and self effort to abstain from certain sins. They teach about a god who doesn't exist; one that is too weak to have sealed believers by a spirit incapable of placing a seal of the power from genuine Deity. They believe in a spirit who is weak and beggarly, unable to hold on to all who continue to sin, which is ALL of us.

They believe in a god who relinquishes his own holy spirit that had been given as as an earnest for their salvation.

A false god cannot save anyone, and their gospel is just as false.

Scripture teaches so much that focuses on the REAL God of the Bible, and they show their ignorance of the scriptures they claim to believe and follow.

How tragic indeed.
