One of the best things I ever learned, was to be still - pray that my brothers and sisters in Christ develop this fruit as well (please?)

Hi there,

So I have meditated consistently for a couple of decades now and I have never looked back. Jesus said "by your patience possess your souls" (Gospels, from memory). I think we should take that seriously! "He who loves Me, keeps My words" (Gospels, from memory). The thing to note, is that when we rest in God at all, we resist the Devil completely. If we resist the Devil, we cease to sin and the Word of God begins to take root in us. But are my brothers and sisters practicing it?

Practicing stillness, is easy. You just learn to be at peace. That might mean lowering your anxiety levels, it might mean slowing your optimism down, it might means dampening your sense of urgency. The Holy Spirit might begin to speak to you, you might learn something about scripture as you wait. You might defend your soul, by taking on the blood of the Lamb, affirming God's word to you and dying to yourself. These things are crucial for a strong walk in the faith, one that brings God glory - and God has glory if you have peace!

I guess what I am saying is that I don't want to be the only one that practices stillness! I want to pray while I have time on this green earth that my brothers and sisters wait with me. How can we be better people, if we don't dwell on God within us? Scripture is better, scripture will always be better, but stillness will never be nothing. If it meant you had clarity, would you do it? If it meant you had mental health, would you do it? If it meant you had sharper perceptiveness would you do it? So pray, for yourself and those with you! I hope this has been of some encouragement.

God bless.

"and a great burden lifted of the believer and the faith, for they had learned to be patient, with their Lord" (in Jesus' Name Amen).
