Matthew Chapter 8 — (Verses 1–7)

The Leper’s Faith and Jesus’ Compassion

1 When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him.
2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 And Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
5 Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him,
6 saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.”
7 And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”

Explanation and Meaning
A man with leprosy came to Jesus with deep humility. He did not demand anything. He bowed and said, “If You are willing.” His faith trusted Jesus’ power and submitted to His will. Jesus touched him, something no one else would do. This shows His mercy and His power to make clean what is unclean. Then He told the man to follow the law given through Moses as a witness to the priests. After that, a Roman centurion came asking for help for his sick servant. Jesus answered with kindness and was ready to go and heal.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• Isaiah 53:4 — The Servant carries our sickness and pain.
• Leviticus 14:1–4 — The law about cleansing a leper.
• Psalm 103:3 — God forgives sins and heals diseases.

Spiritual Lesson
Jesus welcomes anyone who comes to Him in faith, no matter how unclean or far from society. He is willing to heal, restore, and lift up those who trust Him. His touch changes everything.

Matthew Chapter 8 — (Verses 8–13)

The Centurion’s Great Faith

8 The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.
9 For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!
11 And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
12 But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.

Explanation and Meaning
The centurion believed that Jesus’ word alone was enough to heal. He understood authority, and he knew Jesus had heavenly authority greater than any earthly power. Jesus was amazed by this simple trust. He said that people from all nations will enter God’s kingdom through faith, but some who think they belong by birth or tradition will be cast out because their hearts do not truly follow Him.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• Isaiah 42:6 — The Messiah is a light to the nations.
• Malachi 1:11 — God’s name will be great among the Gentiles.
• Psalm 107:20 — God sends His word and heals.

Spiritual Lesson
Jesus honors humble faith. True faith does not depend on being born into a certain group or religion. It depends on trusting Jesus’ authority and taking His word as truth. Those who believe Him from the heart will be welcomed into the kingdom.

Matthew Chapter 8 — (Verses 14–17)

Jesus Heals Peter’s Family and Many Others

14 Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever.
15 So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them.
16 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,
17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.”

Explanation and Meaning
Jesus entered Peter’s home and healed his mother-in-law with a simple touch. She rose at once and began to serve, showing gratitude by action. Later, many people came with sickness and torment. Jesus healed every one of them with His word. These miracles fulfilled Isaiah’s prophecy that the Messiah would carry our pains and weaknesses.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• Isaiah 53:4 — He bears our griefs and carries our sorrows.
• Psalm 147:3 — God heals the brokenhearted.
• Exodus 15:26 — God is the One who heals His people.

Spiritual Lesson
Jesus’ power reaches homes, lives, and hearts. He heals both body and soul. When He restores us, we respond with service, gratitude, and a renewed life. He came to take our burdens and set us free.

Matthew Chapter 8 — (Verses 18–22)

The Cost of Following Jesus

18 And when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side.
19 Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”
20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”
21 Then another of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”
22 But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”

Explanation and Meaning
Many people were following Jesus because of His miracles, but Jesus wanted them to understand what true discipleship means. A scribe offered to follow Him everywhere, but Jesus explained that following Him is not a comfortable road. Even animals have a place to rest, but Jesus often did not. This teaches that following Him requires sacrifice.

Another man wanted to delay obedience until after his father’s burial. Jesus answered with strong words. He meant that nothing should come before obeying God’s call. Spiritual life must come first. Those who choose the world can handle the affairs of the world, but those who follow Jesus must put Him above everything.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• Psalm 40:8 — Doing God’s will comes before all else.
• 1 Kings 19:20–21 — Elisha was called to follow at once.
• Deuteronomy 10:12 — God asks for full devotion, heart and soul.

Spiritual Lesson
Following Jesus is a serious choice. It means putting Him first, even when life becomes difficult or uncomfortable. True discipleship is not just words. It is a daily decision to walk with Him, trust Him, obey Him, and leave behind anything that keeps us from His path.

Matthew Chapter 8 — (Verses 23–27)

Jesus Calms the Storm

23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him.
24 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep.
25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
27 So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

Explanation and Meaning
Jesus entered the boat, and His disciples went with Him. A sudden storm came, the waves rose, and the boat was close to sinking. Jesus slept calmly while the storm raged, showing His perfect trust in the Father. The disciples panicked and woke Him, crying out for help.

Jesus asked why they were afraid, because He wanted them to trust Him even in danger. Then He spoke to the wind and the waves, and everything became silent. The disciples stood in wonder, realizing that only someone with divine authority can command the forces of nature.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• Psalm 89:8–9 — God rules the raging sea and calms the waves.
• Psalm 107:28–30 — God stills the storm for those who cry out to Him.
• Nahum 1:3–4 — The Lord commands the whirlwind and the sea.

Spiritual Lesson
Storms come suddenly in life, and fear rises quickly. Jesus teaches us not to panic when troubles surround us. He is with us in every storm, and His presence brings peace. When we trust Him, we learn that no storm is greater than His power, and no fear is greater than His voice.

Matthew Chapter 8 — (Verses 28–34)

Jesus Sets Two Men Free from Demons

28 When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way.
29 And suddenly they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”
30 Now a good way off from them there was a herd of many swine feeding.
31 So the demons begged Him, saying, “If You cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of swine.”
32 And He said to them, “Go.” So when they had come out, they went into the herd of swine. And suddenly the whole herd of swine ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and perished in the water.
33 Then those who kept them fled; and they went away into the city and told everything, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.
34 And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, they begged Him to depart from their region.

Explanation and Meaning
When Jesus arrived in the region, two violent men controlled by demons came out to meet Him. No one could pass that place because of them, but Jesus walked straight in without fear. The demons recognized Him and called Him “Son of God.” Even evil spirits know who Jesus is and that He has full authority over them. They also know a day of judgment is coming.

The demons begged to enter a herd of pigs if Jesus planned to cast them out. Jesus gave a single command, “Go,” and they left at once. The pigs ran into the sea and drowned, showing how destructive evil spirits are. The city heard what happened, but instead of welcoming Jesus, they asked Him to leave because they feared His power and cared more about their animals than the two men who had been set free.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• Psalm 91:11–13 — God gives power to tread over evil forces.
• Isaiah 61:1 — The Messiah sets captives free.
• Zechariah 13:2 — Unclean spirits will be removed from the land.

Spiritual Lesson
Jesus has complete authority over every evil power. No darkness is too strong for Him. When He speaks, chains break and lives are restored. But people who love their comfort or possessions more than truth may reject Him. The true disciple welcomes His presence and rejoices when He frees those in bondage.

Matthew Chapter 7 — (Verses 28–29)

The Authority of Jesus our Savior

28 “And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching,
29 for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.”

I will add that Jesus has full authority because of who He is in the eyes of God and in the witness of Scripture. His authority is not something He received from men. It is part of His identity. Every title given to Him in the Bible shows the power, the glory, and the place He holds above all creation. These titles come from the Father, from Jesus’ own words, from the apostles, and from the prophets. They show that He is the One sent from heaven, the One who speaks the words of God, the One who will judge the world, and the One who gives life. When we see His titles, we see why His voice stands above every other voice. His teachings rise above every tradition. His commands rise above every human rule. His words decide truth, salvation, and judgment.

Because Jesus is the Son of God, the Christ, the King, the Word made flesh, the Light of the world, the Lord of the Sabbath, and the Judge of all, His authority cannot be questioned. Heaven itself confirmed this when the Father said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him.” The disciples confirmed it when they followed Him and called Him Lord. The Old Testament confirmed it by speaking of the One who would come with power and rule in righteousness. Each title shows His divine mission and the trust we must place in Him. This is why we follow His teachings above all others. He alone has the words of eternal life.

Below is a simple list of the main titles of Jesus in Scripture, with the verses where they appear:

Son of God – Matthew 3:17
Christ (Messiah) – Matthew 16:16
Son of Man – Matthew 26:64
The Word – John 1:1 and John 1:14
Light of the World – John 8:12
Bread of Life – John 6:35
Good Shepherd – John 10:11
Way, Truth, Life – John 14:6
Lamb of God – John 1:29
King of Kings – Revelation 19:16
Lord of Lords – Revelation 19:16
Alpha and Omega – Revelation 1:8
Holy One – Mark 1:24
Teacher – John 13:13
Lord of the Sabbath – Matthew 12:8
Judge – John 5:22
I AM (the Divine Name) – John 8:58

These titles together show the full authority of Jesus our Savior. They prove that His words stand above all other words, and that His commands guide the path of all who want life.
if you peek around the site you gonna see i done been copying this on other places for all to see .

Matthew Chapter 9 — (Verses 1–8)

Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man and Forgives Sins

1 So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city.
2 Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.”
3 And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!”
4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?
5 For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’?
6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”
7 And he arose and departed to his house.
8 Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.

Explanation and Meaning
Jesus returned to His own city, and people brought Him a man who could not walk. Jesus first saw their faith. Before healing the body, He spoke to the heart and forgave the man’s sins. Some religious leaders became angry in their thoughts, believing only God could forgive sins. Jesus knew their thoughts and showed them that He had authority to do both. He healed the man with a command, proving that His words were true.

The man stood up and walked home. The crowd saw this and praised God. This shows that Jesus did not only heal sickness but also dealt with sin, which is the deeper problem. Healing the body showed His power, but forgiving sins showed His divine authority.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• Isaiah 35:5–6 — The lame shall leap like a deer.
• Psalm 103:3 — God forgives all iniquities and heals diseases.
• Daniel 7:13–14 — The Son of Man receives authority.

Spiritual Lesson
Jesus cares about the heart first. Faith brings us to Him, and mercy flows from Him. He has authority to forgive sins and to heal lives. When Jesus speaks, what is broken is restored.

Matthew Chapter 9 — (Verses 9–13)

Jesus Calls Matthew and Shows Mercy

9 As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him.
10 Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples.
11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.
13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Explanation and Meaning
Jesus saw Matthew, a tax collector, a man rejected by many people. With simple words, “Follow Me,” Jesus called him. Matthew immediately left his old life and followed Jesus. Later, Jesus ate with people who were known as sinners. The religious leaders criticized Him for this.

Jesus answered with wisdom. He explained that a doctor comes for the sick, not the healthy. Then He quoted Scripture to show God’s heart. God desires mercy more than outward religious acts. Jesus came to call sinners, not those who believe they are already righteous.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• Hosea 6:6 — God desires mercy, not sacrifice.
• Isaiah 1:16–18 — God calls sinners to be cleansed.
• Psalm 34:18 — The Lord is near to the brokenhearted.

Spiritual Lesson
Jesus calls people where they are, not where others think they should be. No past sin is too heavy for His call. He welcomes those who know they need healing. True righteousness begins with humility and repentance, and God rejoices when mercy is shown.

Matthew Chapter 9 — (Verses 14–17)

Jesus Teaches About Fasting and the New Work of God

14 Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?”
15 And Jesus said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.
16 No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse.
17 Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

Explanation and Meaning
John’s disciples asked why Jesus’ followers did not fast like others. Jesus answered with a picture they could understand. He compared Himself to a bridegroom at a wedding. A wedding is a time of joy, not sadness. As long as He was with them, it was a time to rejoice. But He also said a time would come when He would be taken away, and then fasting would be right.

Jesus then gave two simple examples. New cloth does not fit well on old clothes, and new wine cannot be held in old wineskins. His message was clear. What God was doing through Him was new. It could not be forced into old habits without change. Hearts needed to be made new to receive what God was giving.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• Isaiah 62:5 — God rejoices over His people like a bridegroom.
• Ecclesiastes 3:4 — There is a time to weep and a time to rejoice.
• Jeremiah 31:33 — God promises a new work written on the heart.

Spiritual Lesson
Jesus brings joy and new life. Following Him is not about empty rules but about a living relationship. God looks for hearts that are ready and willing to be changed. New life requires a new heart.

Matthew Chapter 9 — (Verses 18–26)

Jesus Raises a Girl and Heals a Woman

18 While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.”
19 So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples.
20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment.
21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”
22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.
23 When Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing,
24 He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him.
25 But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.
26 And the report of this went out into all that land.

Explanation and Meaning
A ruler came to Jesus in great pain and faith. Even though his daughter had died, he believed Jesus could bring her back to life. On the way, a woman who had suffered for twelve years touched Jesus’ garment. She believed even a small touch was enough. Jesus stopped, spoke kindly to her, and said her faith had healed her.

When Jesus reached the house, people were already mourning. They laughed at Him when He said the girl was only sleeping. Jesus sent them out, took the girl’s hand, and she rose. What looked final to people was not final to Him. News of this miracle spread everywhere.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• 1 Samuel 2:6 — The Lord brings down to the grave and raises up.
• Malachi 4:2 — Healing comes from the Messiah.
• Psalm 30:5 — Sorrow may last, but joy comes again.

Spiritual Lesson
Faith reaches out even in weakness, and Jesus responds with compassion. No sickness is too long, and no situation is too hopeless for Him. Jesus has power over disease and death. Trust in Him brings life where there was despair.

Matthew Chapter 9 — (Verses 27–31)

Jesus Heals Two Blind Men

27 When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!”
28 And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”
29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.”
30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, “See that no one knows it.”
31 But when they had departed, they spread the news about Him in all that country.

Explanation and Meaning
Two blind men followed Jesus and cried out for mercy. They called Him “Son of David,” showing they believed He was the promised Messiah. Jesus did not heal them right away. He first asked them a simple question, if they believed He could do it. When they answered yes, He touched their eyes and healed them.

Jesus showed that faith matters. He also told them not to spread the news, not because the miracle was wrong, but because His time had not yet come. Still, their joy was so great that they told everyone.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• Isaiah 35:5 — The eyes of the blind shall be opened.
• Isaiah 42:6–7 — The Messiah brings light to those in darkness.
• Psalm 146:8 — The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.

Spiritual Lesson
Jesus responds to faith and mercy. He opens both physical and spiritual eyes. When we trust Him, darkness is replaced with light, and life begins to see clearly.

Matthew Chapter 9 — (Verses 32–34)

Jesus Heals a Mute Man

32 As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man mute and demon-possessed.
33 And when the demon was cast out, the mute spoke. And the multitudes marveled, saying, “It was never seen like this in Israel!”
34 But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the ruler of the demons.”

Explanation and Meaning
A man who could not speak was brought to Jesus. He was held in bondage by an evil spirit. Jesus cast out the demon, and the man spoke immediately. The crowd was amazed because nothing like this had ever been seen before.

But the Pharisees refused to accept the truth. Instead of rejoicing, they accused Jesus of using evil power. Their hearts were hard, and they chose to deny what was clearly from God.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• Isaiah 35:6 — The tongue of the mute shall sing.
• Exodus 4:11 — God gives speech and hearing.
• Psalm 107:20 — God sends His word and heals.

Spiritual Lesson
Jesus frees people completely. When hearts are humble, they see God’s work and rejoice. When hearts are proud, they reject the truth even when it is clear.

Matthew Chapter 9 — (Verses 35–38)

Jesus Has Compassion on the Multitudes

35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.
37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Explanation and Meaning
Jesus traveled everywhere, teaching, preaching, and healing. When He looked at the crowds, He felt deep compassion. They were lost, tired, and without guidance, like sheep without a shepherd. He saw their need, not just their behavior.

Jesus told His disciples that many people were ready to receive God’s truth, but there were few workers to help them. He did not say to argue or judge, but to pray. God’s work grows when people are willing to serve.

Prophetic and Old Testament Links
• Ezekiel 34:5–6 — Sheep scattered without a shepherd.
• Isaiah 61:1 — Good news preached to the poor.
• Psalm 23:1 — The Lord is the true Shepherd.

Spiritual Lesson
Jesus looks at people with compassion, not anger. He calls His followers to care, to pray, and to serve. The world is ready for hope, and God is looking for willing hearts to bring it. This is still the case Today more than ever.
