SUNSHINE

I've been remembering a lovely day from many years ago. It started off looking as if it might rain but it didn't. Instead the sun came out and it was been quite warm. My son I took a picnic to the park where we spent an enjoyable couple of hours eating our lunch and enjoying the sunshine. My little boy played on the slide and the roundabout; we fed the sparrows and watched them taking a bath in the pond which was also home to hundreds of little tadpoles. We felt the texture of the new mown grass from the bowling green and smelled its fragrance; piled high in a wheelbarrow it looked quite tempting and I remembered the joys of rolling about in the newly cut grass when I myself was little. The sun shone for most of the day but now it went in later, or rather the clouds came over. I think life is very much like the weather; we have our sunny spells when everything seems perfect and our rainy days when we feel sad; we have our foggy days when we can’t see where we are going and the bleak, dreary damp days when everything seems to be going wrong. Our Father knows what he is up to though, for just as without the changes in the weather crops and flowers wouldn’t flourish and life would be much less enjoyable, we need the changes in our lives to make us stronger and more fruitful in our Christian lives.

For the joy of the LORD is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10

Thank you for the good days and the more difficult ones Lord for they make us grow…Amen

DAISIES

One Sunday our church was worshiping in the park and I was looking at all the daisies growing in the grass. Someone talked about letting our light shine and as I continued to look at those simple flowers I thought that in among millions and millions of blades of grass the little daisy flowers were so easy to pick out. They were ‘shining’, they were individual and beautiful in their simplicity. And I thought that God wants us to be like that in our families and in our communities, workplaces and schools.

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:15-17

Dear Lord help me to be like a daisy; nothing special yet visible among the ‘grass’ in my own simple way……….Amen

A LIFE LESSON FROM A HYDRANGEA

We have had quite a prolonged dry spell here in the north west of England and today when I looked out of the window I saw that my beautiful hydrangea ‘Limelight’ was looking rather droopy and sorry for itself.

I only planted it last back end and have been looking forward to seeing its glorious blooms again. Of course I rushed out with the watering can and in a very short time it had bucked up again.

And I thought how we Christian can sometimes get wilted and a bit droopy and that we need the refreshing spring of living water from the Holy Spirit to refresh and revive us so that we are restored once again to what we are meant to be in Christ Jesus.

HIS GRACE

Help me to understand, Lord
In the trials and the pain;
Let there be a guiding hand, Lord
When my life’s in bits again.
When my heart’s a darkened place,
Lord let me know your grace.

Help me bear the wounds Lord,
That I’ve suffered on this road;
Let there be a helping hand Lord,
To relieve me of this heavy load.
When my heart’s a painful place,
Lord let me know your grace.

Help me see the end Lord,
Of this season’s bitter hold;
Let there be a shining light Lord,
To lead me safe into the fold.
And as my heart finds a quiet place,
Lord I thank you for your loving grace.

I have just been looking back through the contents of this thread. I notice I have posted a few things twice and missed a lot of comments.

I have decided to revive this thread.

An angelic encounter

One day I was riding pillion behind my husband on our motor cycle when our route took us up a R/H turning from a busy main road. Now right from the outset this side road had a very pronounced bend to the left which meant that the view of oncoming traffic was severely restricted.

My husband was an experienced rider and took the turn perfectly; we both leaned into the bend in unison and there was nothing wrong with the bike. Anyway just as we got to the perfect position on the road in which to take the bend my husband shouted that the steering had locked and he had no option but to steer the motorcycle into the kerb.

At the exact time that we made that swerve, a car coming from the opposite direction came round the bend on our side of the road at speed, right at the point where we would have been on the road if the bike hadn’t swerved off line.

My husband pulled the bike oh so gently into the kerbside, initially thinking we had lost power but immediately finding that this was not the case and without even getting off we continued on our way.

He still talks of the day that an angel took over the steering to save us from what looked like certain death from where were standing. Praise God. I believe in angels.

One very cold and wet October day I had been into town and was coming home on a very crowded bus. As I sat there, I thought to myself, “Jesus is on this bus with me.”

There was an empty seat next to me and I asked him silently, “Are you sitting next to me Lord?” And then I thought, “No you would be standing so someone else could sit down.” Then I asked him, “Are standing in front of me holding on to the upright bar?”

After a few seconds I began to tingle from the top of my head right down to my toes and I KNEW that it was Jesus telling me that he was actually within me. It was a beautiful moment and brought a smile to my face so wide that people must have wondered what I had to smile about.

Thank you Lord that you are with me wherever I go; not at my side or in front of me but actually within me. You are so close.
