i am guilty. I am a people pleaser. This is especially evident on the job. I will work hours after quitting time - weekends - whatever is necessary. My goal? Avoiding criticism from the boss. No matter that this is fruitless - bosses are put in place to improve performance. I happen to have a good boss, but higher up the chain.........not so much. My job depends on pleasing clients enough so they will not complain to the higher up admin. Also, I have been sick for weeks....I call it a job hazard - I work with low income folks and the homeless. I carry a 75 person caseload - and all the criminally insane in the system. I am good at my job, but I cannot please everyone. I was just written up because I failed to see a client due to a crisis. I made a clinical decision, but it caught up with me and now after a week of deathly pneumonia, I am facing more of a no win situation than ever. The problem is, I love my job and I am great with my clients. Not sure how to balance the crazy. Advice? I was at work from 7 until 8 PM tonight.
Right now, I am as good as my last kick.........
