When I read Scriptures about how we should be honoring and preferring one another, I think, wow!

We should be tripping over ourselves to speak kindly and show love to one another! It should be as if Jesus was standing right there reading our posts as we write them.

After all, the Holy Spirit is inside of us.

I tend to get jaded but if Im going to be a member of this forum, I want to pray and be apart of the spirit of harmony and garner us a reputation for loving and respectful dialogue.

Lord, let all our postings reflect the Holy Spirit who gives us patience, love, and joy. Love is patient and kind. Love suffers long and seeks not its own. Help us to forgive each other and seek to edify each other even in controversial debate threads.

Help us to season our words with grace because Your Word says a gentle answer turns away wrath.

Help us to remain meek, gentle, and honest with one another.

In Jesus' name I pray.

we should be honoring and preferring one another

Amen!

But some posters have been corrupted by false doctrines on these boards.

And we know how Jesus and Paul rebuked false teachers and corrupters:

Jesus:

“Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?” (Matthew 23:33)

Paul:

“And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?” (Acts 13:10)

I've seen people who are off in their doctrine, but its rare that I find actual "children of the devil".

The Pharisees were the enemies of Jesus and opposed him because they were threatened by him. I hesitate to put people with bad doctrine in this category.

My doctrine was pretty bad too. I often relied on popular pastors and speakers to think for me before learning to study for myself.

If we really do find enemies on this board, are we "blessing those who curse us"? Are we praying for those who despitefully use us?

Should we ignore Jesus' counsel to love even our enemies and single out the verses where he rebuked people?

Surely we can speak the truth in love.

I don’t disagree with the spirit of your posts. I was just offering some perspective out of the scriptures.

Thank you for sharing.

I agree it is good for us to have love and kindness towards each other.

Not condemning and hating or backbiting or whispering about others and their issues.

Amen.

I’m currently reading The Way of Agape by Nancy Missler.

It’s amazing how quickly one can become so absorbed in different aspects of the Bible and forget the very main thing - that God is love, and His will is for us to grow in Christlikeness - which is agape love!!!

I’m being so convicted whilst reading this book - I love it when this happens because that’s when true repentance and change happens. I’ve found myself repenting of attitudes towards people from years ago - things I’d long forgotten about - but which were clearly still cluttering and clogging up my heart. It’s so liberating.

@Goldie75 The word love is indeed a keyword in John's Gospel, and most poignantly expressed in John 3.16: "For God so loved...."

@Goldie75 So is this the first book by Nancy Missler that you've read so far?

(I myself am not familiar with the book.)
Yes, the first book I’ve read of hers. Actually, I’m finding I have a number of issues with it but those would probably be for a different thread. I’m definitely learning things though and can tell God is using it.
I’m a fan of her late husband’s work, Chuck Missler, which is how I found out about this book.
