Once again, your whole premise is wrong. All life comes from God, and all things were created in Christ, from him we draw life, not the scriptures.

Jesus states...

[sup]38[/sup] But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. [sup]39[/sup] You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. [sup]40[/sup] But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Tim 3:15

What did Jesus use as a Child?

Who taught him as a child?

You use one scripture to deny another, rather than understanding their harmony. Do you really think championing one side of scripture to deny the other equates truth?

Pharisees also used scriptures from their youth.

The truth is given of the spirit.

End of argument. Your interpretation is incomplete, as you deny half the scriptures by it.

The word of God is indeed truth, yes, the scriptures, but it is the life of the true word in them that brings us life; Christ.

The Scriptures speak of Christ and yet you deny them!

Why Prentis do you deny the very Word whcih gives life, light and Jesus Christ?

[sup]39[/sup] You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me

So while they search incorrectly not dividing them as I am teaching (2 Tim 2:15) you go a step further and deny the very word which gives life i.e Christ?

Why Prentis?

Error:

Once again, your whole premise is wrong. All life comes from God, and all things were created in Christ, from him we draw life, not the scriptures.

The bold is your error!

You cannot separate the Scriptures from Jesus Christ...this is spiritual suicide.

It is Christ who gives life not scripture, otherwise it would say 'You do not divide them correctly, that you may have life.'

But it says 'you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.'

Christ is the word of life. The scriptures are true because they testify of him, but they are not him. He is not made of 'ink and paper'. He is Spirit, and he is the Lord, living.

Again.

If Jesus says that one who testifies of himself, is not a good testimony, and he says the scriptures testify of him, then he cannot be the scriptures! He is the living word.

When he said that 'wherever two or three are gathered, there I am', it isn't because people who gather to seek him often have a Bible!

It is because his presence truly comes.

All I need you to do Prentis is retract your stupid rash comment about the Scriptures ( Gods Word) not giving life.

2 Tim 3:15,16,17 reveals the Holy Scriptures are able to make one wise enough to be saved. You say they are not!

You are speaking against the Word.

Lets see if you are humble enough to retract your comment.

Your mistake is clear once enough. Scriptures are good for teaching. But life comes from the Lord.

He himself has told us the scriptures testify of him, and he says come to ME, you who thirst.

You claim the scriptures are the life, when they actually point to the life. What makes them valuable is that they point to him.

But the life is in him. You have used one scripture to deny another, but are unwilling to admit your mistake.

No, I have stated openly that life comes through Jesus Christ, I have stated openly that the Word of God is the source of that life through faith in Jesus Christ, however I am yet to see you retract your mistake of denying the Holy Scriptures are able to make you wise enough to be saved?

2 Tim 3:15 is still asking this of you.

I have told you openly, that indeed the sacred writings are able to make you wise.

But only by the work of the Spirit, this is the part you do not agree with. This very thing reveals the nature of your argument, that you do not understand spiritual life.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (John 6)

The Spirit gives life, through his word, yes, but it is the Spirit. And if we do not have the Spirit, we will not receive life through the scriptures, but be as the Pharisees if we take them for ourselves.

You persist in seperating the Spirit from the Word

I am going home to be with my family....maybe you will give some thought to your rash comment about the Father Word (Scriptures)

Until then

Post away!

Our Father is not the word, that is a ridiculous statement!

Our Father is God himself, and him we follow. Otherwise, Jesus should of followed the law of Moses. ;)

We are to follow Christ, the living word. The scriptures testify of him.

You are what you speak!

When God speaks does it not define who He is? Is He not known in character (by the Scritpures) by what is written of him? Because you do not value the Word you do not understand its power to reveal Him.

You have made a grave mistake denigrating the Scriptures as you have done.

In this you do not follow the example of Jesus, Paul etc etc. 2 Tim 3:15

Yes or no

I value scripture, but if a man deny the spirit by which they are breathed, and denies that this spirit teaches us and gives us understanding, I cannot agree.

You yourself deny scripture when you say they are God, when in reality they testify of Him. Indeed, they speak of his character, but so that we might enter in fellowship with him, and experience his character.

Once again, you show you do not understand the workings of the Spirit. The Lord gives life, the spirit quickens.

Ok.

Once again you are making unfounded accusations. I am defending the very fact that through the same Spirit you are speaking of came the Scriptures? 2 Tim 3:15 2 Peter 1:21 But you deny the Scriptures which are able to make one wise, able to provide light in a dark place...they are the very divine expression of God?

I underrstand where you are coming from...but I will allow noone to reduce the importance of Gods living Word (not ink on a page) but the light of life in the heart of His children.

Where do you go to learn of God and Jesus Christ?

I know 2 Tim 3:15

Must go home!

Christ is the living word of God, and by him we have life and salvation.

The scriptures are useful, as a tool in his hand. They only do their work when wielded by the Spirit, and he is the one who quickens. He is our life.

John testified of Christ and what he saw, not that we might know the scriptures, but that we might have fellowship with God the Father.

The whole purpose of scriptures is to point us to Christ, and to the Spirit.
