But even then, an honest theologian has to admit that purely from the standpoint of the written word alone, there are numerous passages that can be interpreted either way. So what often confirms what is true doctrine and what is not is the Spirit of God in manifestation, and this will likely be increasingly true as we move deeper into the end-times.
I liked your post!

Just to add . . . I find that the passages which can be read different ways are for the most part answered by ones which cannot, and that settle the matter.

Much love!

Once again, you are ignoring the whole part before then when a person becomes a Christian because they have faith in Christ.

You stated that to be water baptized into the mormon church, a person has to accept/believe, that the Book of Mormon, is equal to the Bible, as both are Scripture.

Did you want to talk about that?, as that is the topic.

Or would you want to deny that to be baptized into the Mormon Church, you have to believe the Book Of Mormon is Scripture, equal to the Bible.

Pardon me, I thought this thread was about a how a Christian should avoid false prophets. I'm sorry that my post talking about becoming a Christian and having faith in Him is deemed "off topic" by you and instead you attack my character. *rolls eyes*

Exactly

Joseph Smith is a False Prophet., and only a cult would force you to accept that a book written by a false prophet, is "scripture" equal to the bible.
So, yes, avoid him and his church.

I liked your post!

Thank you, Mark.
Just to add . . . I find that the passages which can be read different ways are for the most part answered by ones which cannot, and that settle the matter.

That's correct, only in some ways that simply makes things even more complicated, because additional passages will be brought in that presumably say "the opposite," and then those have to be refuted, and then those are countered, and before you know it it's like this never-ending marathon of argumentation that goes on for weeks and months on end. I have one thread I tried to have shut down because they're STILL going at it several months later. All I did was ask one simple little question in passing, and the next thing I know it turned into a monstrous runaway freight train that no man on earth can stop. People still post replies to the OP and I'm like, "How do I communicate that I seriously don't care about this silly thread anymore," LoL.

Anyway, this is why I prefer to try and limit conversations down to strict examination of a single text. If you open the door for much else, it's like opening Pandora's box, and you'll never get everything back in once it's been opened.

One of the false prophet's methods is pulling a single verse out of God's written Word and applying meanings to it that are outside the flow and subject of the Bible Chapter.

Well by your standard the Apostle Paul is a false prophet:

Paul quoted Habakkuk 1:5 to warn those who would not believe the gospel:

Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.” (Acts 13:41)

And what’s the “the flow and subject of the Bible Chapter”?

For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.” (Habakkuk 1:6)

What do the Chaldeans have to do with those Paul was preaching to???

Thanks @Davy ! Now I have to accept that Paul is a false prophet!

I’ll pass on your advice!

All I did was ask one simple little question in passing,
I remember the day some months ago, I guess, I was sitting here, and thought, Gee! I'm bored! So I posted a thread, "The Pre-Trib Rapture". I stopped being bored, and now, so long later as I see it rise and fall on the list, I understand how you feel!

Still, for personal study, we can answer these things for ourselves, and be the better for it.

Much love!

The bible describes false prophets as denying the Christ. Perhaps we should leave it with what the bible teaches.

If you have to rely ONLY on those who just 'say'... they deny Jesus, then you'll never discern all the false prophets that are out there. So now, let's just leave it at that...

Acts 20:28-31
28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
KJV

How are those false prophets Paul warns of above going to simply come into the Church and FOOL those congregations according to 'your' view?

Better wake up and get back into ALL of God's Word, and not cherry pick just what you want to use.

Don't forget Peter who speaks of Paul. 2 Peter 15-16, should he be labeled false as well since he calls Pauls letters scripture?
Of course not, lets not do as some of the false prophets do and throw out Paul because they despise the Grace of God. Because they would prefer people kicking about in their blood.

OK Davy but you're the one that said stick to scripture ;) I was just doing that. I can spot a heretic though. But as far as a false prophet, the scripture defines that. I think you might be confusing heretic with false prophet.

Want a Bible example of HOW G will test you in His Word, to see if you... are paying attention to Him, or not? Here goes...

I think you're relying too much on word fallacy. A heretic pushes false prophecies.

A heretic teaches false doctrine, most of the time.
If they are not doing that, then they will be found trying to convince you that you can lose your Salvation, as that is the trademark, of a Heretic.
They all teach that one heresy.

its only heretics who obsess on : "OSAS".
They obsess on this twisted concept.
Find one doing that, and you've found a Heretic. @100%

Maybe. When I think of a false prophet I think of people saying when Christ will return or the end rapture or something along those lines.

You mean you haven't recognized false prophecies about the time of Christ's coming being pushed today by heretics and false prophets?

That wont protect you, as you have to know where you LOOK. and moreso, you have to be born again, and then you have to learn how to do what this verse tells you do. And to do that verse, you have to sit at the feet of Paul's Epistles, or listen to someone who has.
There is no other way.

Hebrews 13:9

Here is how you detect a deceived believer, or a religious (fake christian) person, in SECONDS.

ONE thing. = "Do they understand the CROSS"... "Do they understand Jesus as their ETERNAL Salvation".
If they dont, then that is why they never Post or Thread about Jesus or the Cross.
They might mention them.....on their way to talk about how you can lose your salvation.
They might mention them, on their way to their 40 Threads that tell you that you that you have to keep commandments and do good works IF you want to go to heaven.
SEE, they have no CORE SALVATION that is only found in the BLOOD OF JESUS, as "the gift of Salvation" in their TEACHING.
They have no connection to "THe Gospel of the GRACE of God".
It is a foreign language to these deceivers.....these FAKIRS.

Listen.... what you dont have by experience, you can't teach in TRUTH., and that is why they dont, cant, wont, .ever talk about The Cross or being Born AGAIN.
How can they?
Its not them.

Ask one of these deceived fakirs to explain, John 14:6, and watch them drown and flail about works, and "gates" and "branches being burned" and "enduring to the end"., and "water baptism"...and eating a cookie and having some juice"..

And reader, you can find this out by noticing how they TEACH their idea of being saved and staying saved as i just showed you how to SEE THEM.
Its possible that they will read my Threads about "spotting the Heretic" and try to FAKE IT...but they can't fake it long, as you can't fake born again. The pretense will show up in their teaching as ....>"what i have to do do do do do "..
See that?
That is SELF SAVING ......that is not Salvation they are teaching, or believing.
There is no true faith in Christ, as proven by their..>"me me me me, what im doing to try to go to heaven' JUNK< DECEIVED, TEACHING.

Learn to HEAR THEM, and then they can't deceive you anymore.

You are misguided in your understanding. Do you study the bible or just ppl ?
Studying the word in the Spirit might help you see better your fallacies.

A most biased wrong thinking man you are.

Is there a difference between a heretic and false prophet?? To me, they’re one and the same.

A heretic teaches false doctrine, normally trying to make 1 or 2 verses teach the entire BIBLE or NT.
They are always going to try to teach you that you can lose your salvation.

A False Prophet, makes prophecies. and that defines them as a heretic

He is extremely biased if ITS NOT WHAT HE BELIEVES.

You are missing some parts of this conversation, that im having with JD.

Let me bring you up to speed.

She began to post Mormon Doctrine on a non-Theology Part of the Forum., that is for TESTIMONY, only., days ago.
So, i asked her why she is doing that, on THAT part of the Forum.
She then PM'd me, and asked if i had "questions".
I had a few.
She told me....that to be baptized into the Mormon Church, you have to agree that the Book Of Mormon is "Scripture", or you cannot become a Mormon Member.
Today i was talking about that, and she decided to deny it, and then she decided to try to change the subject from that conversation, into "how to be a Christian.
So, i asked her 2 times, in 2 more posts, to respond to the TOPIC i posted, and she didnt care to do it.

So, that is not my "bias", that is her dishonesty.
