Usually, when a troubled young child reaches out for his mother, instinctively
he knows that he will receive a response from her that is deeply, emotionally
reassuring and, generally, this maternal giving is reliable. When he is needy,
there she is to provide comfort and the healing warmth of love. Now, because of their inherant sinful natures, a human mother and her child do not have pure hearts all the time, if that were so divine forgiveness would no be required, and we know how all, without exception, are guilty of sinning in some way.
Praise be to God that Jesus saves us and frees us from the consequences of sin that stains our hearts. However, in those moments when a mother holds her child close to her to give warm protection, a safe place emotionally, a haven if you like from life’s little storms, something wonderful passes between them. That something is love,and in that portion of time, a time of giving and receiving, such love flows from a pure heart. God, who is without sin, gives his children at all times and in all places unconditional love that flows freely from a heart that is forever pure.
