1 Corinthians 13:11. When I was a child, I used to speak as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.

Still gotta put away childish things, @1stCenturyLady, will you explain it to me?

Unless of course one chooses not to.

God let you do whatever you want. I don't understand why the need for that scripture serves any purpose, of putting away childish things and growing up and maturing in Christ.

It's cool to know God allows people to choose what they desire. He desires for us to grow and mature and abide in Christ, but if you choose otherwise he lets you go like a good Father.

(Parable of Prodigal son is a good example of that)

Forgive me @1stCenturyLady I am very tired from being up since 3:30 AM, been working and have one more day to go tomorrow!

Will you explain this scripture to me ?

12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

Children act like children. They are usually selfish, and throw tantrums. We must grow up and mature in the fruit of the Spirit, and the greatest one is Love. Seeing Jesus face to face is the second coming, and our time on earth is our testing time to grow up. He is coming very, very soon so it is time to become perfect and become like Jesus.

Revelation 22:11
11 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him [a]be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.”

The state we are in when we die is the state we will remain. Do not wait until you have a new body to stop sinning. Repent now and let Jesus give us the empowering Holy Spirit who not only plants the fruit of the Spirit, but fertilizes it to grow better. There is a doctrine of demons that says we will always sin until we are out of our bodies and into our new bodies. Demons know that waiting until after you die will be TOO LATE. You must die in a state of either righteous or holiness.

Jesus said the truth shall set us free. That is all about sin. Romans 8:32, 34-36.

1 John 3:4-5 is about the Ten Commandments and the sins of lawlessness which are sins unto death.
Jesus came to take away the desire to commit these sins out of our nature and make us RIGHTEOUS/SINLESS

That is not sinless perfection. Sinlessness is at justification. But we still have immaturity of the fruit of the Spirit. Those we must grow and are progressive 2 Peter 1:5-11. We see if we grow to maturity in all these fruit of the Spirit we will never stumble. That means HOLINESS/PERFECTION.

Get it? Read Matthew 7:19-23 about those who don't bear fruit.

The immediate context is:

8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.

We may be proud of our spiritual gifts (see chapter 12 immediately preceding this one); we may be proud of our theological knowledge, or our knowledge of the Bible, or our knowledge about God (see any forum on this site), but our spiritual gifts are transient and effervescent, and any knowledge we have now is imperfect and incomplete. In the World to Come, both will be put away like a man puts away his childhood toys.

So, since all these gifts and all this knowledge of which we are so proud are destined to be put away like childhood toys, we are encouraged to put on love for one another. The "more excellent way" (1 Corinthians 12:31 immediately preceding). Love which desires the others' good. Because Love lasts forever.

Thank you @1stCenturyLady

child due fight and bicker and it can be either in worldly matters or spiritual matters (as Children of God)

whats good is to grow up, and mature, and become wise with the mind of Christ, and abide in him.

No other way is it possible to grow up but to have love for God, and love for others, because if you hate wisdom, you love death.

Yes, if you do those things you are abiding in Him, and He in you.

Love is good, and God is love. :) Amen.

It's hard to allow the spirit of Christ to love through a person.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God (James 1:19–20)

Of course, Paul may also be subtly hinting that this internal squabbling (chapter 11) and pride over gifts (chapter 12) is some of the "childish things" that we need to put away.

He even went in shortly after his statements in Chapter 2, to Chapter 3.

1 Corinthians 3

New International Version

The Church and Its Leaders

3 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 3 You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? 4 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings?
5 What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. 7 So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. 9 For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.
16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.
18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”[a]; 20 and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”[b] 21 So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours, 22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas[c] or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, 23 and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.

There is a reason why the Spirit is so needed in the world that we live in. The Spirit and the World are vastly different from each other. Our Flesh hates even reading the bible, but the spirit is willing and is in need of it every day to be reminded to abide in Christ and think and wonder on the works of God; believing on his Son.

Amen.
