No, He does not. He looks at you with love, knowing that in spite of your weak and humble state you are nevertheless turning to Him, calling out to Him, wanting Him to receive you. This is what He is looking at; in spite of your addictions you are turning to Him, and trying your best for Him.

It will not go unrewarded if you continue to do so. Just keep going to Him with your sin instead of running away because of it, and He will strengthen you if you just keep pushing forward in Him, turning always to Him if and when you make a mistake, and seeing it through until the end.

God bless, and welcome to the forum.

This is what He thinks of you!
Psalms 139 (KJV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
¹ (To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.
² Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
³ Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
⁴ For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
⁵ Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
⁶ Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
⁷ Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
⁸ If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
⁹ If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
¹⁰ Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
¹¹ If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
¹² Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
¹³ For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
¹⁴ I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
¹⁵ My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
¹⁶ Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
¹⁷ How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
¹⁸ If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
¹⁹ Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
²⁰ For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
²¹ Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
²² I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
²³ Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
²⁴ And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Here are a few more of God's thoughts towards you,

Psalms 103:8-14 KJV
8) The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9) He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10) He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11) For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12) As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13) Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
14) For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

Isaiah 57:15-16 KJV
15) For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
16) For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.

And again . . .

Isaiah 66:1-2 KJV
1) Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?
2) For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

Jesus promised, he who seeks finds. You will find the rest you seek.

Much love!

So very important!

Sin shames us, makes us want to hide, from the One who made us, loves us, and is restoring us. Who has sympathy for our weakness.

Much love!

Hey Chandler...I identify as an alcoholic also, howbeit sober 24 yrs. How do I do it? one day at a time with God's help. I found Alcoholics Anonymous helpful and if you are willing, if you are prepared to be self honest, if you are sick and tied of the whole sordid life with alcohol and its shameful consequences....go there and ask for help. Hear the stories of those who have recovered and how they did it....they speak from the coal face!

How does God view us when we pray?

Welcome to the forums Chandler. God views us as beloved children, forgiven for past transgressions who has power, love and grace to gift to us.

22 The Holy Spirit produces a different kind of fruit: unconditional love, joy, peace, patience, kindheartedness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23

Just ask and it will be given to you; seek after it and you will find. Continue to knock and the door will be opened for you.

I wonder if he looks at me with disappointment Is he always happy with me?

In my opinion, this is one of the things a new Christian wrestles with: happiness v joyfulness. Happiness root word is happenstance, which depends on circumstances, which ebbs and flows with the waves of life's ups and downs. The gift of God's Spirit is joy, regardless of circumstances. Praise God for the peace that transcends all understanding.

God is always happy when you turn to him. Regarding your weakness, remember the words of Saint Paul. We are all weak and need God every step of our lives. Said differently, why walk alone when you can walk with almighty God? Regarding disappointment, remember that there is nothing we can do to please God as he already loves and forgives us through Christ. I say this, hoping it removes the burden you feel. Have a blessed day brother.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:9-11

God loves you! :D He thought you were to die for, so he did that. He sacrificed himself so that you would know you are far more than what the world tells you that you are. Mortal, carnal, and perishable.

God sees you because you are created of and from him. You're not alone in this world. God is everywhere.
And there is not one thing he doesn't know about you. Nothing. Your joys, your happiness, your fears, your shame. God knows it all. Nothing is hidden from God's sight.
And considering all that remember, never let yourself have a doubt about it, God loves you still. And forever. And he knows your name.

He wants you to trust him. If you hold to trust, you can let go of worrying what he thinks of you and how he sees you. Pray with the peace of that truth.

Having all that out of the way, you'll start to realize God is actively a part of your life. Even the little things will start to show his presence behind it.

You are blessed, highly favored, and loved eternally and beyond measure by the greatest power in existence and beyond our comprehension by the holy spirit that is God the creator.

:) Welcome to that peace and truth that is God. And welcome to our community in Christ.

Hidden In Him

Well, there are those who have mocked God, and if they cry to Him for rescue, He will laugh at them (Prov 1:26)

But that does not apply to the sinners we have all been that the Physician comes for...

I think it is less about what He thinks, and more about what you are looking for. We know what he thinks written in His Word.

And Jesus said no man comes to Him, except the Spirit draws him. I have been where you are, and the only thing that kept me coming back to Him as a sinner with no excuse, was the fact that I could come back to Him. And certain matters I am not out of the woods...yet.

Faith is not so much a certainty about ourselves, but that of God. If we confess our sin, He is the One who is faithful and just to forgive us.

Keep going to Jesus, keep confessing as necessary, but in the middle of it, realize He has forgiven you when confessed. And he will do so 70 x 7, so long as we have breath to come to Him.

Don't confuse confession and forgiveness with repentance. We don't deserve forgiveness, but we are free of guilt by grace upon confession. That is the time to consider repentance. When we are free of guilt.

And confession is true godly sorrow from the heart, not just lip service of admitting we've done wrong again.

Maybe try not thinking so much about it, and just thank Him for His mercy and forgiveness and space to repent...

“I asked the angel why there was no more faith and power in Israel. He said, “Ye let go of the arm of the Lord too soon. Press your petitions to the throne, and hold on by strong faith. The promises are sure. Believe ye receive the things ye ask for, and ye shall have them.” I was then pointed to Elijah. He was subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly. His faith endured the trial. Seven times he prayed before the Lord, and at last the cloud was seen. I saw that we had doubted the sure promises, and wounded the Saviour by our lack of faith. Said the angel, “Gird the armor about thee, and above all take the shield of faith; for that will guard the heart, the very life, from the fiery darts of the wicked.” If the enemy can lead the desponding to take their eyes off from Jesus, and look to themselves, and dwell upon their own unworthiness, instead of dwelling upon the worthiness of Jesus, His love, His merits, and His great mercy, he will get away their shield of faith and gain his object; they will be exposed to his fiery temptations. The weak should therefore look to Jesus, and believe in Him; they then exercise faith.”
