“God raised up his servant and sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each one of you from your iniquities.”

“Yahweh your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your midst, from your countrymen, and to him shall you listen.”

(Deuteronomy 18:15, LEB)

”And Yahweh said to me, ‘They are right in what they have said. I will raise up a prophet for them from among their countrymen like you, and I will place my words into his mouth, and he shall speak to them everything that I command him. And then the man that will not listen to my words that he shall speak in my name, I will hold accountable.’”

(Deuteronomy 18:17-19, LEB)

Peter (himself a Jewish monotheist) testifies to his audience (themselves unbelieving Jewish monotheists) on behalf of all of the apostles (themselves Jewish monotheists) that Jesus of Nazareth (himself a Jewish monotheist) is the prophet like Moses (himself a Jewish monotheist) whom their God (the God of Jewish monotheism) promised to raise up from among their countrymen (themselves Jewish monotheists).

The story is contained within the historical constraints of Jewish monotheism.

Few people posting on internet discussion forums give two doodly dangs about how a Jewish monotheist understands scripture written by Jewish monotheists. For those who do, I understand Acts 3:26 in a way which harmonizes with the birth narratives in Matthew 1 and Luke 1.

A margin note I wrote in my Bible when I was a college student: “Produced then sent”.

The order matters to Jewish monotheists who believe Jesus is the Messiah, Son of the living God.

Agree or disagree with the understanding - either is fine with me - perhaps the reader has learned something new about Jewish monotheism; and that matters to me.
