Based on who He chose during His first visit 2000 years ago, I dare say we may be surprised when Jesus returns and we find who He considers to be “real Christians”.
And there may be a few who will be astonished to find out He considers us “real Christians”.
Hello, and your comment is very important for today. Allow me to open up more on this essential subject, on the back of your post.
Many should take this subject of being and not just knowing they are genuine Christians very seriously, in my humble opinion.
There's a lot of mental head talk and not so much real spiritual action and true focus to God and his Christ in Christianity these days. And this lack of spirit of Christ from God in one's life is fooling many into thinking they are being soulfully saved today, and they are not.
I read recently on one thread here that a Christian is defined by being a 'follower' of Christ.
Being a Christian involves more than just following Christ; it includes being in Christ's spirit and filled with and guided by God's spirit daily. This means living a life empowered by the Spirit to reflect Christ's attitude and mind from the heart.
A Christian disciple must do more than believe; they must follow Christ actively. This involves a continuous process of growth and transformation, as described in 2 Corinthians 3, where the Spirit works in believers to make them more like Christ. This is the goal.
From R. Christian Bohlen: He highlights the importance of believing, which is not merely mental assent but a commitment to obey and follow Christ. This belief and obedience are essential for a Christian to live a life that honors Jesus and reflects His grace.
And according to the C.S. Lewis Institute: following Jesus requires a radical faith and love, acknowledging the impossibility of fulfilling such a call without the power of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit empowers believers to obey Christ's teachings and follow His example.
Therefore, being a Christian is about being in Christ's Spirit every day, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide and transform one's life in accordance with Christ's teachings and example. And if this is not happening in one's life, please pray about it.
When Christ returns, he will find little faith for sure, as expected, unfortunately.
