There is One who I hear from!!
The first words I heard from Him was read your Bible, which I did and do. I got to know this One who talks to me. I call Him 'Lord', and He is spirit. Before Him coming into my life I didn't really know about anything spiritual, and I didn't want to. While raised by parents who considered themselves Christians and who took me to church as a kid, It never meant much to me. There was only one little possible exception, but it wasn't much. I was just over 40 when I started hearing from this One whom I call my Lord - because I get instructions from Him and I honestly believe Him to be the Christ speaking to me via His Holy Spirit - and we do talk! He comes across as a calm little voice. In a nut shell - that is my religion.
Our "Religion" is our understanding of God!! We each have an understanding of God - a Religion - whether we think we do or not. because we each have an understanding of God!!
There are also corporate or group understanding, which is what we usually call 'Our Religion'. The group understanding that I relate to is "Christian". Of course, there are groups with in any of the major "Religions". I consider myself a Charismatic Christian, and I go to a church that considers itself a non-denominational charismatic Christian church. It's big with a few thousand members. Yet while I group myself with them, I don't agree with all the main pastors believe. For example - the main pastor thinks the Bible is the Word of God and I think that One who talks to me is the Word of God. That is a big difference. Still, I thinks he hears from the same One I do, but just not so often.
So, I believe he gets confused into relying on the Bible as opposed to the One who we hear from. Which is just another way of saying I think the pastor leans too much on his own understanding instead of seeking the One we both can hear from. But that is his 'religion' - understanding of God.
So, there is a difference between leaning on our "Religion" - our understanding of God, and actually leaning on the Lord of lords and King of kings!!!
And that is the point I am making. We can lean on our "Religion" which is our understanding of God - Or we can just walk and talk with Him!!!
We have a choice. We can be "Religious" - meaning we lean on our understanding of God - or we can believe in Jesus Christ and just walk and talk with Him - thereby getting His understanding and leaning on His understanding instead of our!! What is it going to be?
Prov 3:5-7 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the LORD and turn away from evil.
