Reversing Curses

The idea of reversing curses has always been an abomination to me yet it is something a lot of Christians tend to do when faced with a curse or a negative word sent to disarm or distract them from what the Lord has commanded us regarding love.

I recall a situation where a friend told me that she was outside with her children when the neighbor, whom she believed was a practicing witch, came over and began to argue with her about her kids, who were just having fun in their own yard. It got to a point where her neighbor said that she hoped her husband would have an accident at work and die. The conversation ended.

My friend was very upset about this so she called their pastor (she and hubby were new believers), who prayed with them. In prayer, the Pastor reversed the curse spoken by their neighbor and her neighbor's husband had a terrible freak accident at work where a random steel pole flew out from an area of his workplace and impaled him.

My friend was shaken by this and asked me what I thought about it. I told her that the bible tells us clearly that we are to; bless those who persecute us, to bless and curse not." Romans 12:14.

1 Peter 3:9
says; "Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing."

The bible also teaches us that "a curse without a cause will not alight." Proverbs 26:2. This woman’s curse would not have succeeded anyway.

Handling the word of God correctly ensures that we as believers are not stepping outside of God’s word and being used by the enemy to destroy a life for whom Jesus Christ died.
