The apostle Paul said that he didn't rely on his own righteousness:

(Php 3:7-9 NKJV) But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

I bolded the part you want to ignore. Do you know what the law of Moses is? Have you ever read the first part of the bible called the Old Testament? Holiness in the law of Moses is a temple holiness. Judaizers wanted new believers to abide by the holiness laws of Judaism. Paul, who was indeed qualified as being righteous according to the temple holiness laws...gave that righteous standing with the Jews up to enter into a holy union with God through Christ. That's what you are not seeing.

People like yourself only read the words they want to hear.
So Paul believed he had a righteousness which came from God.

Yes, because he walked in power from heaven over sin. The resurrection life of Jesus empowers us, saves us, from the power of sin. And we KNOW when we are translated into the kingdom realm. All things are new.
Salvation is not a meritocracy arrangement, but quite the opposite. We are saved by God's grace, His underserved favour, not because we deserve salvation:

Grace is a TOOL..an empowerment...to DO the impossible. IF we DO the impossible by grace through faith then we MERIT glory and rewards in the next age. REWARDS are not given for free gifts...but for performance in THE GIFT. You need to start over again without the religious hype and errors.

Paul says that the righteousness he is relying on is not his own, but comes from God.

You seem most judgmental - I do not only read the words I want to hear.

Grace is not a tool or an empowerment. It is God's underserved favour. It is by grace that sinners are saved. They are not given a tool or an empowerment to enable them to be saved.

Paul says that the righteousness he is relying on is not his own, but comes from God.

The righteousness that Paul is talking about is a HIGHER righteousness according to a higher walk in Christ's perfection. No sin. Those who don't sin are greater than they who do sin.

There is no one righteous, no not one, that doesn't sin. The righteous do sin. But the higher righteousness from God has NO SIN in it. It is according to God's holiness.

So Paul chose God's sinless righteousness over walking in the limitations of the flesh even though those who walk in righteousness are still accepted by God.
You seem most judgmental - I do not only read the words I want to hear.

You only see what you want to see and I'm telling you the unvarnished truth. The fact that you are blind and don't know it means that if I say you are blind...you will see that as being harsh instead of merciful. Will you allow your soul to be saved? Will you read the bible through seeking God and His approval?
Grace is not a tool or an empowerment. It is God's underserved favour.

False. Paul said he was running a race of faith...that few will win. And he also said that we can perish in the desert just as easily as those who came out from Egypt.

You have been deceived.

Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling! (do you know who said that?)
It is by grace that sinners are saved. They are not given a tool or an empowerment to enable them to be saved.
Grace saves us from sin by the resurrection life of Christ we enter into by faith. There is no gift of grace that comes without the expectation that we will fulfill the law and overcome as Jesus did. If we can't do that then we should be the most humble people in the world claiming only to be unprofitable servants.

You say there is no gift of grace. Both Peter and James say that there is:

Jas_4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "GOD RESISTS THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE."
1Pe_5:5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "GOD RESISTS THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE."

You and I are clearly not going to agree, so I will leave it there.

You are displaying a lack of reading skills towards my posts the same way you misunderstand the bible. Go back to where you say I say there is no gift of grace. I said there is no gift of grace WITHOUT the expectation that we will overcome as Jesus did.

You need to learn to read comprehensively without jumping to conclusions. And you need a LOT more honesty if you want to discuss with me. I suggest perhaps a course in critical thinking...and maybe one on how to avoid being indoctrinated.

I humbly apologise for misreading your post. However, I assure you that it was a careless mis-reading, not dishonesty on my part.

I don't blame you or assign any bad intent. I realize you made a hasty judgment. But I'm asking to consider that you do the same thing with the bible that has a much deeper message and one that is hard to grasp unless one has actually encountered the living God as Paul had. He writes about things that modern believers have no idea of. But what replaces the truth is a kind of blind assurance that what people are reading is actually in the bible.

You twist the meaning of the word. We are to watch what the meek do and emulate them. We are to LEARN righteousness by watching what the righteous DO. Your cleverness is not of God. You are just flesh looking for justification.

The irony here is palpable. With meekness means humbly....which you are not doing. With meekness is not a category of people. It is an adjective. The "meek" on the other hand is a category...like "the righteous" or the "hypocrites". If the bible said...receive the engrafted word "with hypocrisy" THEN you would have a point.

That's not the condemnation and you know it. I have only explained this to you from the bible a 100 times and you will not learn. I'm writing this to answer the foolish statements you make that snare the soul into a carnality that stops people from knowing the truth. That's why I respond to your bible twistings.

In order to follow the Babylonian religion you have to condemn the righteous...consigning them to hell if they don't accept Jesus as their personal saviour.

But when does God get a say on whom He accepts? The bible says He already accepts those who fear Him and do righteousness. And Babylonians HATE the words of the Lord...they only want mercy for themselves. These have no love for the lost except to see them as ministry fodder.

What...you are not reading other posts? And you have a more passive aggressive approach...in your guile to like posts that attack me...and wipe your mouth and say you are above all that. I see your hypocrisy.
We need to understand the OT scrips are speaking on one level to the old covenant Jews, and on another level that is spiritual to the new covenant church. The meek under the old covenant is not quite the same as the meek under the new covenant who receive the engrafted word. So we must not use that "meek will inherit the earth" to mean people who are meek without Christ. And receiving a righteous man or prophet under the old covenant for us is alluding to receiving Christ.........since there is really no one righteous but He. Jesus would entrust Himself to no man since He knew what is in the heart of man. (That doesn't mean He can't use someone or be speaking through them, but we need to distinguish between He and the person He is working through.)

I try to keep out of the fray when sparks are flying, but I know there are times when it is necessary to confront someone with their wrong. Rebuke and exposing wrong and correction have their place, but I will never intentionally like a bad or vindictive attitude that is coming from the flesh if I discern that. And even legitimate rebukes I don't always hit the like button just because I figure its not my business and want to leave it between the person and the Lord, and not seem to be ganging up as well.

Yes, not agreeing with Epi automatically means we are being dishonest, to his way of thinking.
