That does help a lot! It will help many people out there, but the Sola Scriptura doctrine is more dangerous than actually reading the Bible for oneself to experience the fulness of truth all together around brother!

Do you even know what Sola Scriptura means ? By your post it doesn’t appear you understand it al all.

The phrase sola scriptura is from the Latin: solahaving the idea of “alone,” “ground,” “base,” and the word scriptura meaning “writings”—referring to the Scriptures. Sola scriptura means that Scripture alone is authoritative for the faith and practice of the Christian. The Bible is complete, authoritative, and true. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).

The thing is, the true authority is God.

The Bible is great, love it, but people try to use it as it as their “authority”, Sola scripture is not even in the Bible like the word trinity.

There is 2 Timothy about all scripture but that scripture is talking and referring to the Old Testament scriptures, but people apply it to the New Testament.

So I don’t care about that doctrine, what people should be encouraged to do is read the Bible itself, and be cautious of what anyone tells them as this is what you must believed to be saved without first experiencing who Yeshua is… that is how I go about things, you may go about them differently as not everyone has the same approach my brother.

You don’t care about let God be true and every man a liar ?

You don’t care about thy Word is truth ?

That Jesus is the way, the Truth and the life ?

That not one jot or tittle of Gods word( scripture)will pass away until all be fulfilled ?

that your truth is subjective?

and not based upon the objective truths in scripture?

you believe in relativism .

need I go on ?

hope this helps !!!

It’s so easy to manipulate people, more than anything like people who believe Jesus looks white and perfect with a smile or that he is super built and tough from his carpentry work.

None of that is true.

“Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished. He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”

You’re already a Christian, so who needs to teach you @Christophany? Aren’t we meant to go and help those who struggle and have problems and point them to the only solution?

That is awesome you got out of Calvinism, never heard of it before until a couple years ago, you act as though you have personal authority and can say what goes and what doesn’t go as far as your own understanding. This is why I’m thankful for the liberty in Christ allows to be free, and we are all responsible for the way we use our lives before God. It’s all individual how God works with people it’s very personal. I can’t judge you and you can’t judge me, God will judge.

Yes it’s sooooo easy to manipulate people , just look at Shawn .

next

Yes and God's judgement of them allows Shawn and his faithful servants to call themselves martyrs for what they are and about to, suffer from God, because of their unbelief.

Gotta love people who judge others either way it goes. Can’t hold grudges just because people may dislike another human being.

God is good and we are called to love others. However some may see themselves in authority to other people. Sure we have government authority. The only spiritual governing authority is God in subjective relationships with those who seek and want him, by faith in the Lord.

@Robert Gwin I understand you are much older than me many people on this website are, some possibly younger. (I don’t care how old people are or young they are).

Why do you focus about bible translations? Do you believe the Jehovah witness Bible is the only Bible a person needs to learn from, all the while it has a incorrect text in John 1:1?

https://www.jw.org/en/search/?q=John+1:1&link=/results/E/all?q=

It is assumed by me that you believe your organization would be the only chosen one of God or something that you and your group of people are possibly better than everyone else on earth because of supposing to “having the right doctrine” just like the group of the “Mormons.”

Isn’t it the Lord Jesus who makes us right with God and that because of him by faith we can be children of God?

You also talk about obey rules and you must do this and do that?

Isn’t it Jesus who gives us rest for our soul, and leads us to having love for God and love for mankind?

or is God angry just because someone doesn’t Go to church or they that are not doing what “other people” may believe they “must” do aside from have faith and love, makes God angry?

Would be curious to know your answer, I love you either way but I get tired of the age old assertions about your “concern” about bible translations.

For the benefit of others Matt since we discussed it through the inbox but you put it in print here I must answer. The Bible is God's word, but it no longer exists, it was the inspired word of God but now all we have is versions of it, with every one of them altered. Truth can be found in all Bible's but when 2 versions render something differently, changing the meaning, then they both cannot have truth, both can be in error, but both cannot be correct in the rendering.

The verses you quoted are very important verses as salvation is on the line, as your version stated you must call on the name of the Lord to be saved, however you have to know who that verse is talking about, and know what it means to call on His name, that is where the next two verses come into play, as they are the ones who reveal these truths to others so that they can call on His name.

@Robert Gwin sorry brother I’ll have to just leave you be and do your own thing. Don’t mind communicating with you at all if you may need anything but to argue translations or that one needs to be part of an organization and stuff is stupid to me Sir. Especially if you see the “translation” you use to be the superior one above all others… when it had a mistranslation in John 1:1. The Mormons do the same thing with their translation… it is cult-like, this is not judging your salvation because you believe in Jesus who came down from heaven born, died in the cross and rose again.

I love you for who you are and may God reward you when you leave this life greatly, and Gods grace and peace be with you through the Lord Yeshua.

Our two versions are different, only one of them can be correct, your version states the Word is God, mine says he is a god. Your version translates Acts 28:6 which contained theos same as Jn 1:1 yet your translators rendered it a god, why the inconsistency? They knew the proper way to render it in Jn 1:1, but just like they chose to alter YHWH to Adonai, they deliberately altered the passage to support a doctrine. So is Jesus God, or is the God he came here to bear testimony about God? You be the judge sir.

And would you be willing to put your neck on the line with this mindset towards the “holy” scriptures?

“…and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God…” (Revelation 20:4)

Are you going to hazard your life on such writings that are no longer inspired (according to you)?

Hello Jane this is a book they use to give out on the Mormon side of things.

anyway I’ll have to let @Robert Gwin decide for himself.

The thing that got me so riled up this morning that I hate is “Religious manipulation” it really really hurts to see people who have been manipulated however I’m not here to judge them… it just really makes me sick that this does happen but God is the judge and thank God he sent his son who when we believe on Him and to learn and grow and know Him and God is life eternal.

John 17:3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

I know this wasn't made for me Matt, but I hate religious manipulation more that you most likely. Of course we were warned about it well in advance. Jesus said: (Matthew 24:24, 25) . . .false Christs and false prophets will arise and will perform great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones. 25 Look! I have forewarned you.

Peter said they were already established in his writing a few years later: (2 Peter 2:1) . . .there also came to be false prophets among the people, as there will also be false teachers among you. These will quietly bring in destructive sects, and they will even disown the owner who bought them, bringing speedy destruction upon themselves. . .

Paul warned:
(1 Timothy 4:1-3) . . .However, the inspired word clearly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired statements and teachings of demons, 2 by means of the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, whose conscience is seared as with a branding iron. 3 They forbid marriage and command people to abstain from foods that God created to be partaken of with thanksgiving by those who have faith and accurately know the truth. . .
He also said: (Acts 20:29, 30) 29 I know that after my going away oppressive wolves will enter in among you and will not treat the flock with tenderness, 30 and from among you yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves.

You believe them don't you sir? So now nearly 2000 yrs later we have well over 10,000 sects that claim to be God's people. That is the reality of it, now in looking at those passages, do you think that God approves and accepts these divisions that we were warned about Matt? I can't see it. Jehovah clearly identifies what the path to salvation is, all one has to do is learn about it and accept His requirements. But if they choose to join themselves to those who left the faith, then they must be judged accordingly, which of course is not unfair on God's part, correct?

Everyone has their own outlook, takes, and opinions, @Robert Gwin. Thank you for expressing yours here on the thread.

All that can really done by me is allow people the freedom to think and choose for themselves. May God guide them by the holy spirit and may they find the grace and truth found in the Lord Jesus Christ, friend.

“…and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God…” (Revelation 20:4)

All all versions from God Micah? Why then would He be so disorganized sir? The Bible was the inspired word of God, but as I truthfully stated it no longer exists, however that is not to say that you cannot find truth. Truth can be found in most versions, and never forget God does have a group of people on the earth. Although small in number, there are many on that road to life.

Never forget as well who God gave the Bible to sir. His Word was authored by Him, penned through His people, for His people. That has not changed. Through the faithful slave assigned today during these last days Jehovah feeds His people, very well I might add. So you are quite mistaken by saying that I believe God's word is uninspired, either you did not read my posts, or you are simply trying to discredit what I say, as many people have done to God and His people historically.
