It's your granddaughters bad attitude that's exactly the issue with public schooling. Is her attitude a mirroring of school company do you think? Surrounded by faiths of immorality. Or is it a result of bad parenting?
Shame on you!!! I putting you on ignore -- permanently!

I see some say that kids should be homeschooled or sent to a Christian school. That is fine if you can do either one, but not everyone can. Christian school costs money and not everyone can afford to do that. Not everyone can homeschool as they have to work.

For some of us public schools are the only option.

I never said anything about the place of education but I wouldn't give my child home-schooled education unless they had a disability or something like that because they don't get to make any peer friends their age and interact! They then wouldn't have life skills! I don't think home-schooled kids are necessarily more intelligent, it depends on the teacher. Also, if you believe in Jesus, you would teach your child right from the start how to live a good, righteous, Godly life too.
Home schooling is becoming the better form of education. Tim Tebow was home schooled. To keep pace with the "Peer" interaction he was sent to the actual school to participate with his class .......Must have worked ......After all, he entered U of Florida top ranked and earned the Heismann in Football.....

The choice being the trash in public schools, versus a good solid foundation in religion and education. I prefer a good solid citizen as opposed to becoming a trouble maker ...

Have you inquired at the Christian Schools? We sent our daughter to Indian Rocks Baptist school. Received a scholarship ....not because she was smart, she had just failed the third grade ..... In Indian Rocks, Florida. I made a commitment and followed through faithfully ......What I got in return was a daughter that liked to discuss school and Christianity.

We did inquire of our local Christian school and while they had a scholarship, it wasn't enough and we still couldn't afford it.

We are fine with our kids in public school. My ex-wife and I were schooled in public schools and we turned out decent enough. I am active in their schooling and know what they are being taught.

You....have an advantage other states don't have ....Florida doesn't allow CRT by law and the state monitors the classrooms diligently. Keep active by all means .....I coached baseball for six years in Clearwater. While warming up, I walked around the group and listened to their discussions ....I knew more about the school than the teachers. The kids thought it was great .....My introduction and my sense of humor ...
"Yes, coach has a daughter. No! Ball players are not allowed to date the coach's daughter ......Come to my house to ask ....the bodies are left in the gutter waiting on trash pickup day."

I have no issues with CRT and was likely taught it myself while in school. It just wasn't called that while I was in school over 30 years ago.

I am sure you will see it differently as evidenced by your proceeding words "You....have an advantage other states don't have..." I see it as a disadvantage, but my dislike of Florida is known here as far as I am aware and I only see this state getting worse.

My leaving this state won't be for at least another ten years though. Not going to leave my kids behind and move away.

I am not looking to debate the above. These are my opinions and they will not change. Please, don't waste your breath or I guess energy in typing out a reply.

We don't have to disagree concerning Florida .....My advice in leaving Florida ....Stay away from Alabama ......you would not like it here either. This past election .....I didn't know or care to know one thing about any of the socialists running for office .....They were destroyed here ....

If I go anywhere it will be back north to either PA or Upstate, NY. I was raised in Philly and lived in Upstate, NY for five years.

I was SE of you in Steuben County.
I learned to hate shoveling snow. We came home from school, did homework, then cleared the sidewalks and driveway before Dad came in from work. Never failed.....standing there admiring our work ...Snow Plow would drive by and leave two feet of ice across the driveway. We always got it cleared by the time Dad would arrive ....I moved to Florida because try as hard as I might .....I could not shovel sunshine off the sidewalks.

Believe it or not, I love shoveling snow. I am just a fan of winter and all it brings. I once said that I must be the only person in Florida that gets depressed because of all the days of sunshine in a row. I want several rainy days in a row, snowy days, etc.

I like watching it snow. Like looking at it ....enjoy seeing tracks from animals in the snow ....Like the feel of brisk cold air ....do not like holding the shovel ....LOL ...

being home-schooled is almost like being in a cage, in my opinion. You only get to be with and know your parents and you don't have a whole class to pick out your peer friends. When I was in school, I've never been deceived by a teacher, they were professional and kids only wear masks today for protection from the virus and I think if they choose to do so. a stranger who is a teacher could be dangerous too, what if the parents are at work and it's just the teacher and the kid.

In pondering whether we should compel education on children, I can't help but reflect on the transformative power of learning. While coercion may not be the ideal approach, exposure to diverse ideas and experiences is invaluable. My journey, akin to common app essay examples, highlights the profound impact of education in shaping one's perspective and fostering personal growth.
It's important to acknowledge that different educational settings work for different individuals, and what might be suitable for one person may not be the best fit for another.

Accountability starts at age 18. Ephesians chapter 6. Parents are responsible to raise their children as Christian.

When they mature to age 18. They are accountable for themselves. If they choose the ways of the world, that's their choice. Usually, a child who matures to adulthood, will stay discipline and follow Jesus.

Discipline is the key for children. We don't have that today in the world.

2 Timothy chapter 3 tells us whole story.

Over 80 years ago. A kid wouldn't disrespect a police officer or thier parent's. Again, discipline is the ingredient.

Today, world is mess. Being politically correct is mainstream.

Deuteronomy chapter 31, moses told us last generation would corrupt themselves.

At age 18, they are accountable for themselves.
Myself, I won't get married and have children. I'm focused on serving God. Producing fruit for God.
