I want to share the joy I have of announcing my daughter's completion of obtaining her Master's Degree in Psychiatric Counseling. After she passes the state board exam she will be a professional licensed counselor. Her dream has always been to help others who struggle in life mentally and emotionally.
I want to thank God and give Him all praise and Glory for ordering her footsteps and allowing her to accomplish her goal. I believe God is going to use her mightily to bring healing to those He puts in her path.
Strangely enough, the knowledge she has gained has brought us closer together because now she understands some of the things I went through after my husband died.
Exciting days ahead!

Hi Heart2Soul
I have a granddaughter that is thinking about quitting University after 2 1/2 years.

We all know how difficult it is to finish University and how much study it takes.
Those that can do this are to be applauded !

I'm very happy for both you and your daughter and I pray God's blessings upon her and may her future always include God.

@Heart2Soul it’s good to have counselors who are empathetic in these troubled times when mental health issues are affecting people in epidemic proportions. Empathy is so much more important that sympathy. I heard that empathy is “their pain in your heart”.

On a global scale mental health issues are taking their toll on the health system in ways that were unknown even just a few decades ago. Emergency services such as ambulance paramedics were never targets for abuse but now need police backup in situations where mental health events, especially when it is drug induced, leads to violence.
ER’s are also a place where violent, drug induced behaviour is common these days.

And in today’s economic climate, where greed drives everything, just trying to make ends meet has become a daily struggle. People have money for their “crutches” (alcohol, drugs, tobacco) but can’t find the money to feed their children.....such is the nature of addiction and inability to cope with life’s problems, which are often the result of poor choices....or no real choices at all.

The reality is that those who need counsel often do not apply it. And we see in the Bible that Jesus carries the title “Wonderful Counselor”....if only people could apply his counsel, then life’s problems wouldn’t completely disappear, but coping with them would come from a completely different mindset....one of hope for a better future.

It sounds like your daughter has found her vocation and justifies your pride in her.
Lovely story....

Thank you @GodsGrace, It took my daughter 12 years and 3 boys later to complete her degree. So even if she does quit there's always hope she will return and finish. My daughter never lost hope of her goal but she did insist on prioritizing what was most important. Now that the boys are much older she was able to go and finish what she started.
Encourage her not to quit but rather if she must, to just take a break. There are no rules as to how long it takes someone to earn their degree. :Hnds

Yes. We do feel that she might need some time off.
High school here is 5 years instead of 4.
These kids have had enough when they leave high school at 19 years of age.
One year is a lot of extra study.

The problem is that the young don't realize that university is very important for their future UNTIL they get older and are wiser.

My best wishes for your daughter!
