Actually, it was before God gave the law to Moses. God destroyed S&G as an example of His sovereignty. They were worldly, hedonistic people, who apparently liked to rape visitors to their city. Rape and pedophilia are crimes no matter what gender is involved.

The destruction of S&G was much older than 2,000 years ago.

You are making my point GD, this story has nothing to do with our modern concept of homosexual partnerships between two consenting adults - so why do we use it to condemn homosexuals today?

The apostate speaks....modern concepts ? nothing new under the Sun apostate..our concept ? yes apostasy usualy runs in packs, apostate is a legitimate descriptive term so when you go whinning to the mods like a 2 year old about remember i could have called you worse

ACCORDING to the Good Book, it isn't only the sodomites who hate God, but the world as a whole.

Human morality is based upon spiritual revelation, one reason why opponents of right living also reject metaphysics.

On the other hand, these same folks have no problem accepting the notion that the human race got its start on planet earth by passing space aliens. (Richard Dawkins, famous atheist, has posited this incredible supposition.) Those who reject morality do so by taking a giant leap of faith in the opposition direction.

Immorality is by its very nature a denial of the consequences of behavior.

Sodomy is a special sin in that it has a genuine spiritual component; demonic. Gaydar is nothing less than a spiritual handshake between persons infected with familiar spirits. As a result of the sin nature, those who yield themselves to this influence adopt an attitude of hate toward God and His people as a matter of default. In most cases, their minds have become so perverse that they cannot choose to do otherwise.

but that's just me, hollering from the choir loft...

That is true to the utmost degree. For the world hated Christ before it hated us... And that should also be a lesson to Christians everywhere. The world hates us. Our own government in America considers Christians to be 'cultists' and are actually discussing a ban of the Holy Bible. What would most do then? Many I fear, would willingly give up our scripture out of fear of prosecution or something along those lines. We are not to fear man, only God!

And still, the serpent in our midst seeks to sow dissent among the brethren... I pointed it out once on another topic, and this marks number two. Aspen here seems to like to completely disregard anything that is 100% scripturally based and chooses to accept whatever view seems acceptable to the world today. Of course it wasn't gays... because we have to accept them today or else we can be charged with a 'hate crime' but 25 years ago, we called them as we see them. Still an abomination which our children shouldn't be forced to see or interact with.

And I agree, one of the worst crimes our country has committed is the unquestioned support of the Zionist state of Israel. You ever think of the evils that come from their? The porn industry, the drug trade, abortion, feminism, 'civil' rights, our children dying for their agendas, sex slave trade, global banking and the current leaning towards a one world government, just to name a few. And deny if you will, but all of these things can be read in their own newspapers, seen on their own TV programs, and occasionally mentioned in US periodicals.
Funny that the state of israel does these things, like when i first heard of Jews supporting ALL the things that the OT does not support at all, i thought 'what' this can not be true !

So how is it that this so called state of israel can be so rotten.

If they are Jews they should live by the Laws of the OT end of story.
If they do not support the OT then they have no foundations and are set to fall badly, the poor buggers have no hope at all.
Just like the trash pond life that are bleeding our western nations down the drain with there self centered ego driven madness supporting every silly foolish whim.

True story.
We have these wimps that are more on about love every one and don't say anything that may offend an idiot or a fool. you could get away with a one page Bible with that.short sighted position.

Aspen2,
Actually, it was before God gave the law to Moses.
But not before God created male and female to be in union and pronounced it good. So again, what is your point?
They were worldly, hedonistic people, who apparently liked to rape visitors to their city.
Again, it does mention rape, but it does describe men wanting to have sex with men. Sure one can describe this as rape, but why would you do that and specifically avoid acknowledging the homosexual desires and intent? One would not do this by mistake several times, rather on purpose. The text says the men called bring out the men so we can know them carnally. They didn’t say bring out the visitors, nor did they say bring out the angels.
Rape and pedophilia are crimes no matter what gender is involved.
So are homosexual acts which the passage also describes but which once again you fail to mention.
Why?

You are making my point GD, this story has nothing to do with our modern concept of homosexual partnerships between two consenting adults - so why do we use it to condemn homosexuals today?
Yes it does by dictionary definition, a loving monogamous modern homosexual relationship, or a homosexual partnership between two consenting adults, is still men wanting sex with men. It is still a man lying with another man as with a woman ,and it is still men abandoning the natural use of women and committing indecent acts with men.

N b Which means the modern concept of homosexual partnerships between two consenting adults is detestable to God, and when you say it isn’t, it means you are suppressing the truth with wickedness.

'the natural use of women' - charming....

So does that mean that all other sexual contact, outside of procreation, is sinful?

One would have to say the potential for procreation is essential. Success in procreation is another matter. And, fornication (sexual perversions) can be practised between spouses. This, also, is sin; and can be grounds for divorce.

Proverbs 30:18 There be three [things which] are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not: 19 The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.

As opposed to how men interact with me? Are you kidding? Why would you be upset by that term? dragonfly's response is spot on.

Why would you make that assumption when the passage is referring to the proper combination of sexes? Read 1 Cor 7, the man and the women are not limited to sex for procreation only.

Sorry but you say you think homosexual practice is wrong but you make all the same criticisms that lgbt factions do. I think you would abandon belief that it is wrong the moment you thought it expedient.

Reply to MR ROSENBERGER,

Quoting from post #25 of this thread;
So how is it that this so called state of israel can be so rotten.

If they are Jews they should live by the Laws of the OT end of story.
If they do not support the OT then they have no foundations and are set to fall badly, the poor b****** have no hope at all.

Your question and observations lead me to recommend digging around the following website for answers. http://markofthebeas...blogspot.co.uk/

I realise that the title of the page seems strange at first, but please read this page, or you won't know why it answers your question about the rotteness of the Israel we see today. This website links (see INDEX) to other pages by the same brother - who happens to be Jewish - and who looks very deeply into both Hebrew and Greek scripture for answers.

I have long suspected many incorrect assumptions are being made about the modern state of Israel, by Christians, because our 'leaders' have been beguiled by political rhetoric, and maybe don't know enough Hebrew either. This brother gives the most complete, clearly spoken and scripturally reasoned explanation for what we are seeing today.
