Solomon is generally acknowledged as the wisest man who ever lived; and
he is also credited with composing the book of Ecclesiastes; though in reality
there exists no textual evidence to substantiate that he did. But for the
moment; I'll assume that he did.

As wise as Solomon was, Jesus Christ's wisdom is superior.

†. Luke 11:31 . .The queen of the south will be raised up in the judgment
with the men of this generation and will condemn them; because she came
from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, but, look!
Something more than Solomon is here.

Jesus Christ's wisdom is boundless: his understanding of all things far
exceeds Solomon's.

†. John 3:34-35 . . For he is sent by God. He speaks God's words; for God's
Spirit is upon him without measure or limit.

†. Col 2:3 . . In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

†. Col 2:9 . . It is in him that all the fullness of the divinity dwells bodily.

What I'm getting at is that Solomon taught that there is no conscious human
existence after death; while Jesus Christ taught that there is. People have to
make a decision. Which man are they going to listen to? Well; God insists
that people listen to His son.

†. Matt 17:5 . .Behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold, a
voice out of the cloud, saying: This is My beloved son, with whom I am well
pleased; listen to him!

Should people opt to disobey God, and listen to Solomon instead of
listening to His beloved son: it's very likely the queen of the south will
condemn them too right along with the others Jesus Christ condemned in
Luke 11:31.

†. John 3:36 . . He that disbelieves the Son shall not see life; but the wrath
of God abides on him.

I see no contradiction between what Solomon and Christ said. Truly the dead know nothing. So praise be to the God of the living for revealing his Son to us.

I'm sorry to hear that; but if you can read the gospels and not discern
between Solomon's take on the afterlife, and Jesus Christ's take, then there
is really nothing much I can do about it.

One really shouldn't read Ecclesiastes for any sort of doctrinal instruction. If it was written by Solomon, it was at a time when he was in a spiritual downward spiral perhaps even in a back-slidden state. I believe it is included in the bible as a cautionary tale that even those who have everything can still lose hope and faith when they surround themselves with godless people as many of his wives were.

The same Spirit that inspired Solomon seemed to inspire David into agreeing with his son. Or was Solomon agreeing with his father?
'Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.'
Psalm 146:4

'For in death there is no remembrance of thee: (!!!!).in the grave who shall give thee thanks?'
Psalm 6:5

Even Isaiah though along the same lines....
'For the grave cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: for they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.
Isaiah 38:18

Oh, here's some more from David, (a false prophet or backslidden perhaps???)
'The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence'.
Psalm 115:17
'Wilt thou show wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise thee? shall thy lovingkindness be daclared in the grave? or thy faithfulness in destruction? shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?
Psalm 88:10-12

I actually love Ecclesiastes, it helped change my life... for the better. It correctly shows us how meaningless this corporeal existence is from a human perspective. It isn't a very spiritually deep book, but it is full of practical wisdom about living one's life.

When I take into consideration the Wisdom from Ecclesiastes my focus on Heaven becomes greater, and my desire for the things of this world lesser.

2 Timothy 3:16 says all scripture is given by inspirationg of God, and is profitable for doctrine. Yet, we have some here on this board that think they are wiser than the scripture and Solomon. Solomon... Wisest guy in the world and yet some folks think they are smarter than him. Jesus made that claim and I believe him.... The rest of you.... No.

It goes so in other threads. David fullfilled all the will of God and has a personal testimony that he was a man after God's own heart and people on this board have John 3:16. Nothing else... They don't pay attention to other scripture, but heck... They God John 3:16 and think they are smarter than David and Solomon because of it.

What Solomon (or whomever wrote Ecc) spoke was the truth. And what Jesus spoke was the truth. Why not look to connect them? No, it's not easy. But Heck.... You are a warrior right? Or is it simply easier to sully Solomon and buy the wheat and barley message?

I'd rather listen to Solomon in his God ordained madnes than many of you in your filthy rag righteousness.
