Yeah, I started watching the videos for "meteor fireball in sky" and several I think often are about the France size. A big one was over China some time ago and gave someone's grandma's ducks a stir:

I'm pretty sure around 2003 in so cal while I was at work s massive day meteor detonated in high altitude above and near my work. I heard a loud massive "boom" and initially thought it was the military testing large artillery nearby in the desert and realized it was way over head.
