A PS to the above post.

Has anyone considered that the Chinese mainland government may consider that the running aground of a Taiwanese company's leased vessel is an act of war and justification for China to invade Taiwan to reclaim it as their own.

The question is, was the running aground of the EverGreen's leased ship and accident waiting to happen or was it a deliberate act, by a country unknown, to either damage china's trade credentials or trigger the invasion of Taiwan by China.

We will have to wait to see what happens over the next few months as to what the outcome will be.

Shalom
Oh very much so...
PRC has always played at least a three part/long game strategy.
Thats why I am keeping an eye on this situation...this is a powder keg waiting to explode.
I really wouldn't doubt that the PRC funded and helped the Houthis attack the Saudi's at the same time.
Stirring the pot to wait for everyone else to explode into chaos and destruction is exactly inside of their normal repertoire. That was the whole of the Korean and Viet Nam conflicts. They were, at that point in time, trying to get the US and Russia into a war with each other so that they could come in and pick up the pieces of the two destroyed countries.

Is that not what the war in Syria is all about. The ability to build another pipeline to transfer the oil and gas towards the Mediterranean Sea.

Shalom

Not really...There was a pipeline from Iraq to Syria that was there. It was part of Sadaam Hussein's attempt to subvert the sanctions.
There is some oil in southern Turkey...now the war in Syria was a precursor to the militants getting control of that area...very rich in oil and gas. The Kurds were absolutely besides themselves during that War. They actually control the vast majority of the oil in Southern Turkey. And if the Kurds were ever able to unite...they could create the ME superpower that everyone fears quite easily.

Perhaps this is a Russian play, to divert attention away from what they are doing in the Middle East, to move the world's attention away from the Middle East to a theatre half way around the world from the Middle East. Russia would greatly benefit from a conflict in Asia, supplying one/both sides with the goods needed for conflict. It may help Russia resolve their contentions with Japan.

Yes, that famous canal that Egypt and Israel fought over for years has been blocked by the Chinese. The world's largest container ship lost power in a windstorm and has blocked the thing by running aground...bulldozers are hard at work trying to repair the levey. Tugboats tugging...

Hundreds of ships use it every day...but not now. This is how Europe gets it's petrol. 14 ships carrying fuel are expected to be backlogged by the time this thing gets opened back up.

Containers of oil, clothes, food, spices and even medical supplies are camped out waiting for 6 tugboats to try and free the trapped vessel.

I'm thinking that we have a stinker on the world stage...
It beats me how something that size was even allowed passage through the canal in the first place. Probably because money rules.

Russia is friends with Syria and with Iran. (Which is why they bombed the stew out of ISIS/ISIL with White Phosphorus bombs...and no one said a word about the illegal nature of those munitions...grenades are OK...but bombs are illegal)
The Suez canal being blocked does them no harm...but it does harm their friends Iran who use the canal to send their oil West. Now it doesn't hurt Iran at the moment because they are under sanctions from most of the western world (over developing nuclear missiles)...but just got a huge contract for oil with China which will help them immensely with funding their nuclear missile program.

'Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket,
and are counted as the small dust of the balance:
behold, He taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
-------
All nations before Him are as nothing;
and they are counted to Him less than nothing, and vanity.'

(Isaiah 40:15 & 17)

Hello @JohnDB & Co.,

Alarm signals began to go off in my mind when I saw the news about this I must confess. I am reluctant to read too much into things, but so much is happening on the world stage at the moment, and I can't help but think that this is just one more episode which has the potential to create a great deal more tension among the nations of the world.

'But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified:
for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.'

(Luke 21:9)

God knows what is going on. He is not taken by surprise by these many events, and He knows the end from the beginning.
May His will be done.

In Christ Jesus
Chris

Accidents happen. How many Chinese ships are also being delayed? Doesn't the world do more business with China than any one else? I've seen over 60 cargo ships lined up and anchored stretching 50 miles in 2004 in LA Harbor. That might have been a trucking strike - can't remember. There is congestion now with half that many waiting to deliver.

Just coincidentally, this was the only place in the canal where if a ship angles aground the size of evergreen, it would block the whole canal! Very interesting!!

There is billions in trade not taking place and many ships are rerouting around the Horn of Africa to make their deliveries on time. (costly reroute)

Usually there is a billion barrels of oil going through the canal on any given day. The price of oil has spiked because of it. The US Navy has been drug into the situation to help with dredging to make the bottom go deeper. The Navy has been currently involved trying to stem the sheer volume of pirates off of the Somali coast. It isn't sending gunboats. But will if the ship becomes under attack from pirates trying to loot the stuck ship.

If this continues into next week expect a huge surge in prices at the pump. Just saying that if I were you...get a tank of gas this weekend...especially if you live in Europe.

I seriously doubt that they will be able to get this tanker free by the weekend. But probably will sometime next week.

USA has roughly 60-75% of the World's economy. China and all of Europe make up 3rd and 4th largest economies...Japan is always right behind us.

Ship full of Taiwanese goods...Europe blocked from getting it's gas...everyone else in route around the Horn of Africa...Corona vaccines getting distributed everywhere....SEC looking to Delist Chinese companies from the stock exchanges...Empty containers waiting to get to Brazil so they can make toilet paper...(yes...the Suez Canal being blocked can cause another toilet paper shortage).

10% of the world's trade goes through that one little canal.

Has anyone considered that the Chinese ...

I consider the Chinese Suspect in any Major Operation that Negatively Affects the World...
Sabatoge, Unleashed Viruses, Mantipulation of Elections, Markets, Unfair Trading, confiscations of wealth...on and on...
They have an Agenda of anti-God and Total Control.

You are missing out on Russia, Iran, and Venezuela. Those guys aren't exactly fans of the USA either. Cuba would count in that group too but they have a hard time even making a phone call these days.

We know who they sleep with.
Don't forget the DC crooks slithering behind...
Bunkers, locked doors, posted armed guards...and now a fence...oh how they hate fences, and guns

The Pandemic has created an economic downturn for everyone.
I would say we were energy independent last year. A different President is messing with the Oil business, fracking ... so the price has gone up, with 11,000 jobs lost. Welcome to the Green New Deal.
It is what it is, the beginning of sorrows or we might be in the Great Tribulation.
We can expect the economy to fall pretty much like when Biden tripped and fell several times up the stairway to Air Force One and then turns and salutes, only we will be falling down the stairway and then bending a knee.
