In my experience, after the 3.11 earthquake at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan, It wasn't long before there was a big earthquake in South America. I'm afraid it's the same thing this time, first in Russia and then in South America.

"The time is not yet". You have it right, full destruction will come towards the end of the Great Tribulation, when the entire Ring of Fire will quake/erupt. The 8.8 was just a spark.

I was wondering yesterday what the job description is of the Secretary of the Interior Department.
Environmental, infrastructure, water basins, dams, etc...
Seems we are having a Water problem here in the states. Our reservoirs and lakes and rivers from the Mississippi on west are running rather low almost critical. They doing what the can so we avoid another 1930's dust bowl catastrophe.
Over in the East we are having flooding, Look at NYC it's bad. Ohio, Indiana, lot of places too much water, out west too little.
Having a lot of minor earthquakes along the california coast but that's not that unusual as it is relatively unstable.
The world is changing, the earth I believe is off it's axis and throwing off the weather patterns and the seasons are shifting.
But the Bible tells us that these things are bound to happen because the whole earth groans until the Sons of God are revealed.

That was 2000 years ago, the earth is still groaning. That's 2 days Lord's time if you take a thousand as a day.
Somewhere says the third day we will be revived, but you have the days cut short and no man knows the day or hour.
So Just pray, It's all in the Plan, it won't be easy but will will remain steadfast.

If we didn't know that God is in charge of everything and that his plan is working the way He designed it, then I would probably worry and panic. But knowing what we know, we have no need of fear.

Please accept my two cents worth to the understanding in the ring of fire displays around the Pacific Ocean.
G:4579 is best understood to have the meaning of an earthquake or shaking whereas G:4578 is best to have the meaning of turmoil. G:4579 is a physical entity where the ground shakes and splits the rocks etc. whereas G:4578 describes an emotional response to events happening around people.
Every verse reference for G:4578 above is best understood to have the meaning of “turmoil” in the English language and not “earthquake” which is how the translators translated every verse reference above except Matthew 8:24 where it used the English words “storm” or “tempest” to describe what was being experienced in the boat but it was the turmoil in the wave that the disciples feared the most which could swamp the boat and cause the boat to sink.
The volcanic displays and the associated earthquakes which are being observed now on a more regular basis is a sign that the earth/creation is groaning because of the increase in the violence and sin occurring in the world today since the middle of the 20th century where the Greek root word G:4579 is one of the signs that is indicating that we are entering into the seventh age.
Revelation 16:18 speaks of the two great wars, WWI and WWII during the 20th century with the signs of a nation being established over the Land of Babylon in 1926 AD and the portioning of Jerusalem into three parts to be controlled by Britian Jordan and the UN in 1948.
The Ring of fire around the Pacific Ocean is groaning more now than ever before because of the increase in the sin around the world at this present time.
Where we have seen G:4578 happening around the world it has been displayed by the great turmoil that has been displayed within the peoples of the respective nations because of the uncertainty that the people were experiencing during a time of conflict between nations.
