John called himself "the disciple whom Jesus loved". It is in the writings of Saint John.

In a deluded version of scripture called the ESV the beloved apostle is named as Peter.

Luke came into the picture in 160 AD and is not a Apostle or an eye witness.

be that as it may the question was "who was the beloved disciple[not apostle] and why so beloved " - winc

You ask a question , then answer it yourself , then attack every-bodies comment .

What is your purpose?

There was a disciple that Jesus loved -- John 13:23

It was not Peter -- John 13:24

Mary Magdalene went to the empty tomb, then ran to Peter and John, who also ran to the empty tomb. John refers to himself as the disciple whom Jesus loved. -- John 20:1-10

it is worthy of note that the beloved disciple was beloved in spite of the fact that Peter loved Jesus more than all the others - so why was the beloved disciple specially beloved - winc

really we cannot and should not conjecture who it might have been and should have been but who it was according to the scriptures - so in this wise via google search box type in [The Beloved Disciple] - btw even when thus ascertained or accepted the question still remains why so extra beloved - winc
