John called himself "the disciple whom Jesus loved". It is in the writings of Saint John.
In a deluded version of scripture called the ESV the beloved apostle is named as Peter
be that as it may the question was "who was the beloved disciple[not apostle] and why so beloved " - winc
There is no beloved disciple in scripture. Be that as it may.

really we cannot and should not conjecture who it might have been and should have been but who it was according to the scriptures - so in this wise via google search box type in [The Beloved Disciple] - btw even when thus ascertained or accepted the question still remains why so extra beloved - winc
