1 Peter 2:24: “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
That does not change the fact that a tree was needed to construct the cross, and that Christ was indeed crucified by the Romans. He was nailed to that cross, and in that sense He was hanging by those nails on "the tree". The mention of "tree" by the Hebrew apostles was to related the crucifixion to the curse of the Law pronounced in the Old Testament (Deut 21: 22,23), and how Christ took the curse of sin and death upon Himself.

And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree: His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; for he that is hanged is accursed of God: that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

This is exactly what Paul refers to in Galatians 3:13: Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

This is why the apostles were constantly referring to a tree. There are no contradictions in Scripture.

@Enoch111 did an excellent job of explaining that!

One thing I would like to add. Everything revealed to us in the NT has already been written in type and symbol in the OT. The Tree/Cross symbolization is one example. The "Tree" is the OT symbol of the NT "Cross."

The first time in Scripture the "Tree" is symbolized as the "Cross" Is when the Hebrews came to Mara, and the waters were bitter. The people began to complain because they had no water, so God showed Moses a "Tree" and told him to cut it down and cast it into the bitter waters. Instantly the waters became sweet!

The "Tree" symbolized the Cross of Christ as the solution to all of mans problems.

very good my friend . Jesus was truly nailed to a cross , that cross was made of wood , wood cometh of tree .
I mean if we read it without knowelge one might think they got a rope and just hanged him on this tree . Like judas who hung himself .
But we got many accounts , many witnesses who saw it that said ROMAN STYLE CRUCIFIED . on a cross made of wood .
So allow me some parting words to encourage us all and to let us remember exactly WHO HE was and what HE DID for us .
HE came to die on a cross made of wood
YET HAD MADE EVEN THE HILL ON WHICH IT STOOD . LEt the KING be praised .

And FROM HE ALONE COMETH THE LIVING WATERS that if a man drinks thereof they shall never thirst .
LET THE KING BE PRAISED . Let every hand be raised in honor unto the LORD .
He who honors the Son Honors the Father . POINT TO JESUS TILL THE LAST BREATH .

What did Jesus say about His being on the tree?

The symbol of Jesus being lifted up on a tree is the only one that the Bible offers as a door to the eternal. As Jesus said, “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” (John 12:32) Through the Messiah’s death, we are offered life. Through his sacrifice, our sin is forgiven. None of this works without a tree.

The wood of the cross recalls the tree of life in the Garden of Eden and the tree of life in the Book of Revelation.

Why is it important that Jesus’ cross be referred to as a “tree”?

Trees are featured throughout the Bible, but in particular, there are two very important trees that are related to the cross of Jesus.

Tree of Life in Eden

In the Garden of Eden, there are two trees, one that gave life, and the other called the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”

And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2:8-9
These trees were designed for the benefit of humans, and were part of the original paradise.

Tree of Life in Revelation

While Adam and Eve are banished from the Garden of Eden, through Jesus Christ the gates of Heaven are opened and there is located another tree of life.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.
Revelation 2:7

The Cross as the Tree of Life

The Church has interpreted from the very beginning that Jesus’ cross is that “tree of life” for us in the present moment, from which we will eat the fruit of everlasting life.

Exactly. And no doubt when God told Moses to make a Brazen Serpent, Moses also needed a tree on which that Serpent would be placed. It had to be visible from some distance so it was elevated on the tree. Christ too was "lifted up" on the cross. So the Serpent was to prefigure Christ, who was made SIN for us (who knew no sin) that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
