It is amazing the debth of deceipt that is inground in religion. As a youg catholic of many moons ago, attending the stations of the cross, seein Jesus cary His cross, and even fal l3 time with it, yet teh bible account seems a little different. Seems that only John suggests that Jesus carried His cross all teh way alone,

Mat 27:31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
Mat 27:32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.
Mat 27:33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,

Mar 15:20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.
Mar 15:21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
Mar 15:22 And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.

Luk 23:26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

and last but not least

Joh 19:16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.
Joh 19:17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

Unless someone has a bible with a different account, he never fel ldown one according to the bible, Dont remember it being mentioned any where, though I am sure in His condition he did.

I know this much when we take up our cross, Jesus Himself will bear it for us, that is why He asks us to give Him all our burdens.

So which of teh stories is right??

And for you next lesson, read all the accounts of what happened after His ressurection, when they visited teh tomb. See if you can get 2 accounts that match.

You do realize that the Bible is not the transcription of the video tape, right?
There are four Gospels written by 4 different authors with different purposes.

Matthew wrote to Jewish believers and emphasized the Jesus fulfilled the prophesies of the (OT) scripture and was the promised son of David.
Mark wrote a very basic, "bare bones" report of Jesus' ministry, passion and resurrection.
Luke wrote his gospel and Acts to provide "an orderly account" of what he had taken place for his friend Theophilus. (That name could have been a literary device as Theophilus means "God lover" so, it could have been addressed to the church at large and all interested parties.)
John emphasized the deity of Christ.

There is no need for all the versions to agree exactly on the minutia in order for the message of the Gospel to be told.

Oh I know that, a detective who read it, says all the NT is based on eyewitness accounts. But they tell me God doesnt make mistakes, which we all know, and here we are defending what we already know. And that is why are are not supposed to work it all out ourselves. Nice post.

Interesting..... Well, I checked the NIV. It says Simon was forced to CARRY the cross. But, as you mentioned, it does not say anywhere he fell. In Jerusalem they do a march where they walk the supposed same path Christ did when He was being led to be crucified. They stop at points where they claim Christ fell..

Yet, the bible does not say this anywhere.... Hmm. This merits further investigation.

Thanks, bro!
