The Devil has overlooked whether Evolution is a "degree of change" or a "magnitude of change", it didn't matter to him, but it matters to a Man! (?)

Hi there,

So reasoning at length, with what "Evolution" is supposed to mean - breeds do change, after all - I noticed a discrepancy, in what the Devil was saying the power of Evolution was. The Devil was not saying "some changes were evolution and others were not", he was saying "all changes are evolution and death is the deciding factor, as to which continue" - this was a mistake. A man, whether he believes in Evolution or not, discerns a difference, between things that are a degree of change or a magnitude of change. The distinction is important to a man.

A degree of change, is basically a change that changes a breed, within the breed; and a magnitude of change is a change that creates a new breed. You can't have faith in the survival of a member of a breed and faith in the change of the breed, at the same time - just like you can't say "I am near to the truth and far from the truth at the same time". I'm not saying they don't interrelate - certain survival may help change, and certain change may help survival - but specifically what is thought important about change, is what determines what is expected going forth. Jesus didn't say "he who is faithful in random change, is faithful in much evolution" - that is the Devil's lie!

Now, dealing with the Devil's lie, is a challenge - remember what Jesus said "when he speaks, he speaks from his own resources", if you are trying to understand the lie, you need to remember that everything he (the Devil) says has a degree of interrelation. The way out, is to let your 'Yes' be yes and your 'no' be no - in other words, your "degree of change" has to be a degree and your "magnitude of change" has to be a magnitude. A breed may have a great degree of control over its voice, but not survive and need a magnitude of change to a breed with better foresight; or a breed may have very little of a magnitude of change and only survive if it multiplies a degree of change a lot. You might need to think that last point over, it is about building or spreading pressure, through a breed. If a breed controls its differentiation between degree and magnitude of change, its survival and proliferation will be affected.

Survival or proliferation, is really where the Devil is at, at the moment (I believe) - the lie he wants to sell people, is that they can have everything - great survival, great proliferation - if they just serve him or destroy their faith in God, through trusting chance. Chance on the other hand, is not going to help people discern between degrees and magnitudes of change; and there is no way the Devil can pretend to be God, if he can't offer radical change in distinction to God's patience with all change. I think there is space for God to speak up, actually - about what it means to love the change God gives you. You can even have a preference in life, for degree or magnitude - family members might want degrees of change; leaders might want magnitudes of change. In the end, what you can really hope for is flourishing, not merely acceptance of a 'lot' in life.

I am excited about this, because I had been around and around the argument, that everything starts and ends with Evolution - when in fact, Evolution has a lot to do with how different species change over time, but not in the simplistic way that is suggested. The reality is, that Jesus was very clearly aware of different degrees of faith - "oh you of little faith" He said; "how great your faith is" He said - and did not remove the possibility of a magnitude of faith - "if you have the faith of a mustard seed, you can move a mountain with that magnitude" He said. Clearly, how you objectify the degree or magnitude of your faith, affects the degree or magnitude of change you bring about. A Man discerns this, and trusts someone who can point out that "objectification" consistently. I personally, have been tested, to see if I can do this (to bring Glory to God!).

A good prayer then is "Lord, help me objectify my faith correctly; and apply my discernment to whether I pursue a degree or magnitude of change to what I become for Your Name's Sake, in Your Name Amen". If we can trust this, then we can begin to develop a pattern of life-style choices, that edify God and uphold the godly life He wants us to have lived. If there is agreement between how God wants us to change, and how we actually change - how great is that agreement! There will be tests and we will think we are making bigger changes than we really are, but the process will prove God's love for us, not just our breed, but our entire species. That is meaningful love.

A Man with meaningful love, is little afraid of any terror (selah).

Here ends, the terror of Evolution (EDIT: as pertains to consistent faith in change) - I hope this has been of some encouragement.

God bless.
