[Luke 19:11 KJV] "And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear."..........This verse lays to rest the idea that Jesus talked about a spiritual kingdom........[Luke 17:21 KJV] "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."..........They were looking for a physical kingdom which was the prophetic Davidic kingdom in which Christ would reign for a thousand years. They wouldn't be looking for a physical kingdom if they already had the kingdom within.

[Luke 19:12 KJV] "He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return."........The nobleman, which pictures Christ, goes away to receive the kingdom at his return. Here Jesus was telling the disciples the kingdom wouldn't immediately appear, the kingdom would be delayed.
