I take you to the edge of the grand canyon early at sunrise. The mighty gecko arises early for a snack at the visitor center.

The only problem: it's situated 1,000 feet above.

With his stealthy light weight frame, sticky paws and rapid climbimg speed, he scurries up the tremendous height of a grand canyon cliff edge I about 30.5 seconds.

The goal, either some visitor snacks, or the cricket perched high above.

As he reaches the top a visitor man, arrogant and obnoxious sees the gecko. He notices it going for the cricket. As usual the human cares little for the daily achievements the gecko must undergo to retrieve his morning snack.

Seeing the gecko about to snatch the cricket at the cliff edge, the man kicks the cricket off the cliff.

The gecko is not deterred from his goal.

Determined to achieve breakfast the gecko leaps backward after the cricket that was falling a bit ahead. The cricket and gecko now in a doward dive thru the air.

Unknowingly to the visitor he hears a rumble. Looks back just to catch a massive mudslide from the hillside behind him.

Swept over the cliff edge, the man and the mudslide race speedily downward.

Luckily for the gecko...

The man amidst the mudslide hurting downward, beat the gecko to the canyon below...

Now with cricket in mouth, the gecko lands softly, paws spread out, slowing his fall.

As the man and gecko regain consciousness after the impact, the man sees the gecko, with cricket in mouth, scurry off his chest and back into his rock cave.

The moral of the story?

You decide!

Cheers,

Instant Karma . . . just add mud.
Yes my friend,

The gecko can often be spotted in Karma based signs, with two geckos. One chasing the other around in a circle.

Much like the fish in the Yin Yan of eastern religions.

Cause and effect, action and reaction I suppose. Part of the basic physics of the martial artist.

The basic principle of which, in a frictionless environment, much like a recently oiled wooden floor of the temple Kung Fu...

If you kick a stack of firewood, it appears to kick back. Thus finding one's self, most likely lying flat on the floor.

That of course unless precise forward leaning of the body weight is applied.

In which case the artist would re-establish a perfect vertical stance after said attack.

Failing to account for the resistance of force, indicating overconfidence, and yes, landing on your (soft cushiony landing place).

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. One of the fundamental laws of nature and thus the science of physics.

The philosophers of old obviously could perceive such.

And as always, with any force there then must be a counter force. In a frictionless environment would equal each other as easily measured.
