You believe an upright standing cross with Christ crucified in perpetuity is of God?
I’m not sure what the question is? Is the point “perpetuity” that you are asking of? If so I don’t think He is still on the cross, no, but risen and alive. Yet, when I first came to this board I thought He was still hanging there on the cross because (just an opinion) that is where I was at the time. I had heard so much of a crucified man and not so much of hope, or life out from the grave…even though I had been to church for Easter service, it still never crossed my mind the cross was as empty as the tomb?
Hebrews 6:4-9 Comes to mind…’For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of (Life?)the Holy Spirit, [5] And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, [6] If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance;
seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. [7] For the earth which drinks in the rain that comes upon it, and brings forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receives blessing from God: [8] But that which bears thorns and briers is reject, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. [9] But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation,
though we thus speak.’
seeing
they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and
put him to an open shame.
Colossians 2:15 And
having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, (despising the shame?) triumphing over them in it.
^ I have wondered, just a thought which doesn’t mean it is right, but the above with Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
endured the cross,
despising the shame …who am I to say this can not be an enduring that “perpetuity”
endures all things: in ‘who endured the cross, despising
the shame’ ‘how long must I suffer you’ in God is not willing any perish but all come to Life? Is it possible that “perpetuity” endures the open shame of ‘But that which bears thorns and briers is reject, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.’ Hebrews 12:3-4
For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself,
(Colossians 2:15) lest you be wearied and faint in your minds. [4] You have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
Galatians 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ has been evidently set forth,
crucified among you?
Was that in any way an answer to the question? Or did I miss the point you were trying to make?
