I let my wife doing the signing up for contests for us , case in point . She signed us both up for a local radio contest to win a swimming pool grand prize and they had other prizes too . Day of the contest drawing 104 peoples names were drawn and they were to report to the pool supply store that was a sponsor at 7:30am and stay most of the day . You had to be present to win only about half of those drawn showed up . My wife and I were BOTH drawn out as part of the 104 !
We showed up with lawn chairs in tow and set-up to wait as it was a draw down to the winners . Everyone who came got some kind of prize starting small and getting better as the draw down progressed and eliminated people for the grand prize . They provided lunch for us too . Me and my wife were still there when it got down to ten people and I am thinking this is getting freaky .
Down to three people , Me and my wife and one other lady . The radio DJ told us to have something to say if we won the grand prize . The lady wins the third prize . My wife wins the grand prize and I get second prize ! My wife has the microphone in front of her and words fail her , LOL ! So she won the pool and I won $500 dollars worth of deck building supplies . It was NOT mentioned over the airwaves that a husband and wife had won the 2 top prizes

The only thing I ever won was a TV from AmVets charity. They gave $600 instead of shipping the TV. Whenever I would send in the prize coupons to AmVets, I would write "give this to someone else if I win it"...if it was a trip or something I didn't need. Couldn't travel at the time. So maybe they gave me a prize because of that?
